Social Media & Content Manager / Part-Time
The Door Centre – Galway
16 hours / 2 days per week | Hybrid & flexible €16,000 per annum (€40,000 full-time equivalent) Permanent
We’re not looking for someone to ask us what to post. We’re looking for someone to tell us what we should be posting.
The Door Centre is an established and growing Irish interiors business with a large Galway showroom, an existing social following and plenty of great content already being created.
Now we want to take our social presence to another level.
We’re looking for a genuinely creative Social Media & Content Manager to take ownership of our organic social presence across Instagram, TikTok, Facebook and LinkedIn and, importantly, help us develop a distinctive and recognisable brand direction online.
This is not a role for someone who simply schedules posts or waits for content ideas to be handed to them.
We want someone who understands what makes people stop scrolling, is constantly thinking of new concepts, enjoys experimenting and isn’t afraid to occasionally push the boundaries.
What you’ll own
You will take responsibility for our organic social content from idea → creation → publication → performance.
Your role will include:
- Developing our overall social-media and creative brand direction
- Owning and managing a rolling content calendar
- Constantly developing fresh ideas for Reels, TikToks, Stories and campaigns
- Filming and photographing content in our Galway showroom and at selected projects/installations
- Creating and editing engaging short-form video
- Writing captions, hooks and social copy
- Managing Instagram as our primary social channel
- Developing our TikTok presence
- Keeping Facebook active and engaging
- Developing a strong and professional LinkedIn presence
- Creating regular Stories and spontaneous behind-the-scenes content
- Identifying staff, products, customers and projects that could make great content
- Planning content several weeks ahead while reacting quickly to trends and opportunities
- Reviewing performance and using what works to shape future content
- Keeping our channels consistently active, current and professional
Comfortable creating with people.
We want considerably more than product photographs.
You should be comfortable behind the camera and, when appropriate, in front of it.
That could include recording voiceovers, occasionally presenting short-form content, interviewing members of our team and directing staff to create natural, engaging videos.
You won’t be expected to become the sole “face” of The Door Centre. Part of your role will be identifying different personalities within the business and finding creative ways of bringing them into our content.
You’ll have resources behind you
You won’t be expected to do everything alone.
We already have access to a professional videographer for higher-production content and larger creative concepts. You’ll have the opportunity to help develop concepts, plan shoots and creatively direct how this content is used.
We also work with a separate specialist paid-media agency that manages our paid advertising and ad spend.
You won’t be responsible for running paid advertising. Your focus is organic social, content, creativity and brand direction, while collaborating with our videographer and paid-media partner where appropriate.
There’s plenty to work with
The Door Centre is a highly visual business.
You’ll have access to our large Galway showroom, internal and external doors, architectural ironmongery, flooring, wall panelling, installations, customer transformations, pre-hanging, warehouse activity, new product launches, staff, suppliers and completed projects.
We need someone who can look around the business and see content opportunities other people don’t.
Who we’re looking for :
We’re much more interested in your creativity, portfolio and how you think than a particular qualification.
You might currently be a Social Media Manager, Content Creator, Marketing Executive, Videographer or Freelancer.
We’re looking for someone who:
- Understands Instagram, Reels and short-form content
- Understands TikTok and what works natively on the platform
- Can shoot good-quality content using a phone and/or camera
- Can edit engaging short-form video
- Has strong visual and creative judgement
- Is comfortable with voiceovers and occasional on-camera content
- Can confidently direct other people on camera
- Writes naturally and confidently
- Is highly organised and can manage a content pipeline
- Is proactive and self-directed
- Constantly brings new ideas
- Follows trends but knows when they’re appropriate for a brand
- Isn’t afraid to experiment or suggest something different
Paid advertising experience is not required.
The opportunity :
You’re not starting from zero.
We already have an established brand, good social channels, an existing following, professional video capability and a paid-media partner.
What we’re missing is someone to take creative ownership of it all and develop the next stage of The Door Centre online.
You’ll have genuine creative freedom.
If something isn’t working, change it.
If you see an opportunity we haven’t spotted, pursue it.
And if you have an idea that sounds slightly mad but could make brilliant content, we probably want to hear it.
Hours & salary
16 hours / 2 days per week€16,000 per annum (€40,000 full-time equivalent)
This is a permanent hybrid/flexible position.
We envisage approximately one regular on-site content day and one flexible/hybrid day for editing, planning, scheduling, publishing and developing future concepts.
The schedule can adapt where there is an installation, event or other worthwhile content opportunity to capture.
How to apply :
A CV alone won’t tell us whether you’re right for this role.
Please include examples of content you’ve created or social accounts you’ve managed - professional or personal.
And we’d love you to answer one question:
If you took over The Door Centre’s social media tomorrow, what’s one piece of content you’d be excited to create first?
There isn’t a correct answer.
We’re looking for the person whose answer makes us think: “We wouldn’t have thought of that.”
Pay: €16,000.00 per year
Benefits:
- Company events
- Employee discount
- Flexitime
- Free or subsidised travel
- On-site parking
- Store discount
Application question(s):
- Please provide a link to social media content/accounts/portfolio that demonstrates your work.
- If you took over The Door Centre’s social media tomorrow, what’s one piece of content you’d be excited to create first?
