Designer Group is a leading international mechanical and electrical engineering contractor, delivering high-quality projects across Ireland, the UK and Europe.
As we continue to grow, we are developing a new prefabrication facility in Kells, Co. Meath. This facility will support the delivery of complex M&E projects by improving quality, productivity, programme certainty and off-site manufacturing capability.
We are now seeking a Materials Controller to support the effective movement, storage, tracking and availability of materials across the facility.
The Role
The Materials Controller will play a key role in ensuring materials are available, accurately recorded and issued to production in line with project and manufacturing requirements.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone with experience in stores, materials control, logistics, warehouse coordination or construction supply chain environments.
You will work closely with production, procurement, project teams and suppliers to make sure materials are received, checked, stored and issued efficiently.
Key Responsibilities

Receive, check and record incoming materials, equipment and deliveries.
- Ensure all goods received match purchase orders, delivery dockets and project requirements.
- Maintain accurate stock records using internal systems and documentation.
- Control the issue of materials to production teams in line with work schedules.
- Monitor stock levels and highlight shortages, delays or discrepancies.
- Support cycle counts, stock checks and inventory control activities.
- Organise materials within the facility to ensure safe, efficient and accessible storage.
- Liaise with procurement, suppliers, project teams and production teams regarding material availability.
- Identify damaged, incorrect or missing materials and escalate issues promptly.
- Support the planning and coordination of material movements across the facility.
- Ensure materials are clearly labelled, traceable and allocated to the correct project or work package.
- Maintain good housekeeping standards across stores and material storage areas.
- Support compliance with health, safety, quality and environmental requirements.
- Assist with continuous improvement initiatives across stores, logistics and material flow.
Requirements

Previous experience in a materials control, stores, warehouse, logistics or supply chain role.
- Experience in construction, engineering, manufacturing, M&E or prefabrication would be an advantage.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in stock control and documentation.
- Good organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Comfortable working in a busy, hands-on operational environment.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work with production, procurement and site teams.
- Basic IT skills and experience using stock, ERP, procurement or warehouse systems.
- Understanding of health and safety requirements within a stores, warehouse or manufacturing environment.
- Forklift licence or manual handling certification would be an advantage, but not essential.
Desirable Experience

Experience working with M&E materials, pipework, electrical components, supports, containment, modules or prefabricated assemblies.
- Familiarity with construction project delivery or off-site manufacturing environments.
- Experience using stock management, barcode, ERP or materials tracking systems.
- Ability to read basic material schedules, pick lists or project documentation.
