Job Title: Technical Operative - Swing Shift
Department: Facilities Management

Reporting To: Facilities Manager / Technical Services Manager
Shift Pattern: Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday | 9:00am - 7:00pm (10-hour shifts)
Employment Type: Permanent, Full-Time
Role Purpose
This is a dedicated weekend technical operative position created to ensure continuous operational capability and compliance oversight during weekend periods. The role provides critical support for project supervision, Risk Assessment and Method Statement (RAMS) verification and authorization, and ensures all contractor activities align with contractual obligations and site safety standards.

Key Responsibilities
Project Supervision & Compliance
Review, proof-read, and authorize Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) for weekend contractor activities in accordance with site safety protocols
Supervise contractor and supplier works onsite to ensure compliance with approved RAMS and contractual requirements
Conduct site inspections and safety checks during contractor activities
Act as the primary technical point of contact for weekend projects and external works
Ensure all documentation is completed accurately and filed appropriately
Escalate any non-compliance, safety concerns, or contractual issues immediately to management
Performance Tracking & Continuous Improvement
Track and document the benefits delivered by the swing shift role to the client, including enhanced weekend coverage, improved project turnaround times, and compliance achievements
Maintain accurate records of weekend activities, contractor supervision hours, RAMS authorizations, and maintenance tasks completed
Identify and report operational improvements and efficiency gains resulting from dedicated weekend technical presence
Provide regular feedback and data to demonstrate the value and success of the weekend role to both JLL and client stakeholders
Contribute to monthly reporting with quantifiable metrics that evidence the positive impact of weekend operations
General Maintenance & Technical Support
Complete planned preventative maintenance (PPM) tasks and reactive maintenance requests during periods of lower project activity
Assist the painting team with preparation, materials handling, and completion of decorating projects across the site
Respond to building-related faults and conduct first-line diagnostics
Perform general fabric maintenance including minor repairs to doors, windows, fixtures, and fittings
Support building services maintenance activities as required
Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities completed
Health & Safety
Ensure all activities are conducted in compliance with health and safety legislation and site-specific safety policies
Maintain awareness of GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) requirements where applicable
Conduct regular safety walkarounds and identify potential hazards
Ensure personal protective equipment (PPE) is worn appropriately at all times
Participate in safety training and briefings as required
Support incident investigations and complete documentation as needed
General Duties
Maintain site security and conduct lock-up procedures as required
Assist with emergency response procedures during shift hours
Communicate effectively with the incoming weekday team regarding outstanding issues or urgent matters
Keep work areas clean, tidy, and organized
Support other members of the facilities team as operationally required
Person Specification
Essential Requirements
Experience:
Proven experience working in a facilities management or building services environment
Demonstrated experience reading, interpreting, and reviewing Risk Assessments and Method Statements
Previous experience supervising contractors or third-party suppliers onsite
Experience working in a GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) facility or similarly regulated environment is highly desirable
Knowledge & Skills:
Strong understanding of health and safety regulations and workplace safety practices
Ability to identify non-compliances and safety risks
Good technical aptitude with building systems and maintenance practices
Competent with Microsoft Office applications and maintenance management systems
Excellent attention to detail, particularly when reviewing documentation
Basic data tracking and reporting skills to capture performance metrics

Desirable Requirements
Relevant health and safety qualifications (IOSH, NEBOSH, or equivalent)
Trade qualifications in a relevant discipline (electrical, mechanical, plumbing, carpentry)
Experience working in pharmaceutical, life sciences, or critical environments
CSCS or equivalent construction safety certification
First Aid qualification
Working Conditions
40-hour working week across four days (Thursday - Sunday)
Weekend working is a permanent feature of this role
Shift times: 9:00am - 7:00pm
Weekend presence is essential to this role's operational requirements. A maximum of three (3) full weekends off per annum will be permitted to ensure continuity of service. Flexibility will be offered with weekday time off to accommodate personal commitments and work-life balance where operationally feasible.
Occasional flexibility required for urgent operational needs
Site-based role with physical demands including walking, lifting, climbing ladders, and working at height
PPE must be worn as required by site safety standards
