Construction Site Manager
Location: On Site Ballyboden, Dublin
Duration: 12 Month Specified Purpose Contract
Weekly Schedule: Monday to Friday, 7:30am to 4:30pm
Overview of the role
This is a Construction Site Manager within the Water/Waste Water Industry
Build Projects leading the construction team and subcontractors on site and will
have the responsibility to put H&S of site personnel at the top of the agenda.
The role will interact with the following departments: Veolia Design and Project Management Teams, Client, Contractors and sub-contractors.

This is a regional based position dependent on the successful applicant, but the incumbent may be required to travel to other Veolia sites, plants and offices throughout Ireland.
Day to Day Role
Develop and maintain H&S file on site
Work closely with the Project Manager to plan the project effectively ensuring project requirements, specifications, design drawings and Health & Safety proposals are agreed upon and a programme is in place
Promote and maintain the highest standards of health, safety, quality and environmental Management
Day-to-day management of the site, including supervising and monitoring the site team and the work of any subcontractors in accordance with Veolia Minimum Requirement (VMR) toolkit standard
Identify, prevent and report unsafe behaviour, defects and events on site (i.e. accidents, incidents and close calls) updating AVA as required in accordance with Veolia Minimum Requirement (VMR).
A proactive approach to resolving any unexpected technical difficulties and other problems that may arise and associated reporting to the Project Manager
Assist with project handover and ensuring defect/ snag-free completion
Carry out regular H&S audits and toolbox talks
Manage all site-based operatives, overseeing all aspects of their work including carrying out safety inductions, tool box talks, controlling the quality of work, ensuring method statement and order fulfilment, cleanliness and tidiness, the use of plant and tools, the reduction of waste and use of PPE
Reviewing of RAMS, Lift Plans etc. from subcontractors to ensure a safe working method for all activities on site.
Reviewing performance against targets and identifying and managing potential risks and opportunities
Issuing of permits and Safe Plans of Action (SPA’s) as required
Chair daily co-ordination/whiteboard meetings
Chair weekly internal progress review meetings
Liaison with Project Team, Veolia Risk & Assurance department, Equipment Suppliers, Contractors and Client as required
Management of Mechanical, Electrical and Automation subcontractors on site
Preparation of weekly and monthly progress reports on-site activities
Attendance at weekly and monthly client progress meetings
Programming and scheduling of all work on site.
Ensure compliance with project programme for timely completion of the works
Maintain commercial awareness and play a leading role in resolving disputes & claims.
Overall responsibility for the monitoring of material conformance and workmanship quality against the Project Quality Plan
Ensure ongoing compliance with the following during the construction phase:
Environmental Plan / Waste Management Plan / Construction H&S Plan / Emergency Plan /Project Schedule
Qualifications and Experience
Civil or Trade background showing progression to management level
10 years’ experience working in roles on multi-discipline site-based projects preferably water or Waste Water
Up to 10 years’ site management experience in water/wastewater industry
Previous experience in Civil construction of Water Treatment plants will be an advantage
Full clean driving licence
Excellent oral and written reporting skills
Good communication skills required
Computer literacy in Google Sheets, Docs & email will be an advantage
Preferably to have IOSH SHE for Construction Site Managers or similar
