If you thrive in fast‑paced settings and excel at guiding multidisciplinary teams, this is an opportunity to make a real impact on major hyperscale and large‑scale data centre programmes.
About the Role As an Electrical Engineer specialising in data centre environments, you will play a central role in the engineering, design, and delivery of advanced electrical systems. You will collaborate closely with technical and non‑technical stakeholders, ensuring robust design quality, regulatory compliance, and high‑performance engineering outcomes.
This role requires a confident communicator, a detailed‑oriented professional, and a leader who brings integrity, strong work ethic, and a calm, solutions‑focused approach to dynamic project environments.
Key Responsibilities In this role, you will:
- Lead and mentor project engineering teams across advanced electrical and construction processes within large data centre environments.
- Deliver high‑quality electrical design work with strong proficiency in data centre systems and engineering principles.
- Collaborate effectively with clients, vendors, contractors, and internal teams in fast‑paced, high‑pressure environments.
- Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, design guides, building regulations, EN/IEC standards, ETCI or BS7671, and industry best practices.
- Prepare and deliver clear presentations, reports, and technical documentation using MS Office and other design tools.
- Oversee the development of detailed electrical, control, ICT, security/monitoring, and fire detection system designs.
- Apply strong analytical and problem‑solving skills to deliver effective, compliant, and innovative engineering solutions.
- Maintain a forward‑looking, open‑minded approach to design challenges and project delivery.
What We're Looking For We are seeking a high‑calibre engineer with:
- Excellent communication, organisation, and leadership skills.
- High proficiency in electrical systems design—especially data centre design.
- Ability to work calmly and constructively with cross‑functional teams in fast‑paced environments.
- A methodical, detail‑oriented approach with strong personal integrity.
- Experience interacting with clients, vendors, and contractors.
- Strong knowledge of ETCI/BS7671 regulations, Building Regulations, EN/IEC Standards, and industry design guides.
- Recent experience with tools such as Amtech, ETAP, EPLAN P8, PSCAD, DIgSILENT, CDEGS, Adobe Pro/Bluebeam, MS Office Suite, AutoCAD, and Revit/Navisworks.
- A solid track record in data centre/mission‑critical projects (2–3 years).
- 5–7 years direct electrical design experience.
- 2–3 years experience leading engineering and/or design teams.
- Strong understanding of advanced electrical, control, ICT, and life‑safety systems.
- Comprehensive knowledge of design and construction industry best practices.
- Ability to travel as required.
Qualifications
- Third‑level diploma or degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Relevant experience in engineering, project/program management, or equivalent.
- Proficiency in written and spoken English.
- Membership or chartership with IET, Engineers Ireland, or an equivalent professional body (preferred).
