We are seeking an experienced Resident Engineer to join our established motorway asset renewal team, overseeing the delivery of maintenance and capital renewal projects across the Greater Dublin motorway network.
The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising construction activities, ensuring works are delivered safely, to specification, on programme, and in compliance with contract requirements. The role primarily involves the supervision of pavement renewal works, with additional involvement in drainage, ducting, structures, and associated motorway infrastructure projects. Due to operational requirements and traffic management constraints, the position involves predominantly night-time working.

Act as Resident Engineer on motorway renewal and maintenance projects.

Supervise contractors undertaking pavement rehabilitation and resurfacing works.

Oversee drainage, ducting, structures, and associated civil engineering works as required.

Monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with contract specifications, quality standards, and health and safety requirements.

Undertake inspections, audits, and quality assurance checks.

Review and maintain site records, including daily diaries, progress reports, and inspection documentation.

Monitor programme delivery and identify potential risks or delays.

Liaise with contractors, client representatives, local authorities, emergency services, and other stakeholders.

Attend site meetings and contribute to project reporting.

Ensure traffic management measures are implemented and maintained in accordance with approved plans.

Assist with the administration of construction contracts and the assessment of contractor performance.

Support the wider project team in the successful delivery of motorway asset renewal programmes.
Essential Requirements

Level 8 degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline.

Relevant years of post-graduate experience in civil engineering construction supervision or project delivery.

Demonstrable experience in pavement renewal, road maintenance, or highway infrastructure projects.

Strong knowledge of construction quality assurance and site supervision practices.

Experience working with contractors and multidisciplinary project teams.

Ability to work within a team and also work independently and under own initiative to achieve project goals.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities.

Full clean driving licence.

Willingness and ability to work predominantly night shifts.

PSDP/PSCS awareness and a strong understanding of health and safety legislation.

Computer literate and with experience of relevant software (AutoCAD or similar) and Microsoft Office programmes.

Experience in administering contracts using the Public Works form of contracts; including processing of Valuations, and assessment of Claims.
Desirable Requirements

Chartered Engineer (CEng) status with Engineers Ireland or equivalent professional institution.

Experience on motorway, national road, or major transport infrastructure projects.

Familiarity with forms of contract used on public infrastructure projects.

Knowledge of pavement engineering, drainage systems, roadside technology ducting, and structures maintenance.
