About the Role
We are seeking a motivated, enthusiastic, and customer-focused Deli Assistant to join our team at Maxol. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and serving high-quality food, maintaining excellent hygiene standards, and delivering outstanding customer service in a busy deli environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, cook, and serve a range of hot and cold food products in accordance with company recipes and food safety standards.
- Ensure all food is presented attractively and replenished regularly.
- Provide friendly, efficient, and professional customer service.
- Operate the till and process customer transactions accurately when required.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in all food preparation, storage, and serving areas.
- Follow HACCP procedures and all food safety regulations.
- Monitor food temperatures, product quality, and shelf life, ensuring proper stock rotation (FIFO).
- Receive deliveries and store stock safely and correctly.
- Minimise food waste by following portion control and stock management procedures.
- Assist with opening and closing duties, including cleaning equipment and preparing the deli for the next shift.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure efficient daily operations.
- Comply with all company policies and health and safety procedures.
- Carry out any other reasonable duties assigned by the Store or Deli Manager.
Skills and Experience
Essential
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to food quality.
- Good personal hygiene and understanding of food safety practices.
- Flexible approach to working hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work as part of a team.
Desirable
- Previous experience in a deli, café, restaurant, or food service environment.
- HACCP and Food Safety training or certification.
- Experience using commercial kitchen equipment.
Pay: €14.15 per hour
