Business Development Manager

We are continuing our journey of expanding and diversifying our business and we are seeking a highly ambitious and motivated Business Development Manager to drive sales and expand our market presence in our Salt Category. We specialise in sourcing high-quality salt products internationally. Our diverse product range serves multiple industries such as retail, food manufacturing, water technology, purification, and road maintenance.
Role Overview:
This stand-alone role requires a strategic thinker with strong commercial acumen who can identify new market opportunities, strengthen existing partnerships, and expand our reach into key sectors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a business development strategy for the Salt Category, aligning with company objectives.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities, in new and existing sectors.
- Lead sales strategies, pricing, and contract negotiations.
- Manage and expand relationships with existing customers across water technology, purification, food manufacturing and road maintenance sectors.
- Conduct market research to stay ahead of industry trends, competitor activities, and regulatory requirements.
- Attend industry events, trade shows, and networking opportunities to promote the business and identify potential partners, both domestic and international.
- Work closely with procurement and logistics teams to ensure efficient sourcing, cost optimisation, and reliable supply chain performance in support of customer demand and business growth.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Supply Chain or related field (desirable but not essential)
- Proven experience in an operations management role, ideally within wholesale or distribution
- Strong leadership and people management skills
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Solid knowledge of inventory management principles
- Experience driving process improvement initiatives
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and inventory management systems
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Key Requirements:
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a business development or sales role. Related industry knowledge would be an advantage.
- Commercial Acumen: Proven ability to develop and execute strategic growth plans.
- Networking & Relationship Building: Strong ability to foster long-term partnerships.
- Market Expansion Skills: Previous experience in entering new markets would be advantageous.
- Negotiation & Communication: Strong negotiation skills with an ability to influence and close deals.
- Flexibility & Initiative: Self-starter with the ability to work independently in a stand-alone role while collaborating effectively with internal teams.
- Education: Third-level qualification in Business or a related discipline with evidence of continued learning and professional development.
- IT Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel; experience with ERP systems and data analysis tools is an advantage.
