Dixon International Logistics is seeking a reliable and hardworking Yard Operative / Shunter Driver / Truck Wash Operator to join our team at our busy logistics facility in St. Margaret’s, Co. Dublin.
This is a varied, hands-on role supporting the day-to-day operation of our transport yard. The successful candidate will be responsible for shunting vehicles and trailers, maintaining an organised and safe yard, and operating our truck wash facility.
Key Responsibilities
- Shunting trucks and trailers within the Dixon yard and between operational areas.
- Positioning trailers at loading bays as required by warehouse and transport operations.
- Operating the on-site truck and trailer wash.
- Washing and maintaining company trucks and trailers to a high standard.
- Carrying out basic vehicle and trailer condition checks and reporting any damage or defects.
- Maintaining a clean, safe and organised yard.
- Ensuring trailers are parked correctly and designated areas remain clear.
- Assisting the transport and warehouse teams with general yard duties.
- Following all site Health & Safety procedures and traffic-management rules.
- Working closely with the Transport Office, Warehouse and Fleet teams.
Candidate Requirements
- Previous experience in a yard, transport, warehouse or truck-wash environment would be an advantage.
- Experience shunting HGV trailers is strongly preferred.
- HGV licence would be an advantage.
- Good awareness of vehicle and pedestrian safety in a busy transport environment.
- Reliable, punctual and comfortable working independently.
- Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
- Good standard of spoken English for operational and Health & Safety purposes.
- Willingness to work outdoors and carry out physical duties in varying weather conditions.
- Candidates must have reliable transport to St. Margaret’s, as public transport options to the site are limited.
