Barberstown Castle Hotel are recruiting for a dual role Night Porter / Receptionist to join their team. This is a dual role and will consist of day shift and night shift working - e.g. 11pm to 7:30am, and includes lone working at night. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, be security conscious, be friendly, and have good phone manner and great customer service experience. They will also need to have bar experience.
This may suit someone looking for part time or full time.
Night Porter Roles include the above but not limited to:
- Regular security patrols to ensure guest, staff and premises safety, ensuring that all exterior door and windows are secured. These patrols take place at regular intervals throughout the night and are essential for fire safety.
- Serve guests at the resident night bar ensuring accuracy by checking key cards and having guest to sign bill.
- Ensure that the service offered by all team members is personal and memorable. That guest needs are anticipated and requests followed up. Build relationships with guests, ensuring that they want to return to Barberstown Castle Hotel
- Ensure good communication with all departments throughout the hotel.
- Communicate any comments or complaints to relevant managers.
- Assist guests with any requests e.g. information, making bookings, directions.
- Ensure that all tasks are completed on each shift that a full and thorough handover takes place at the end of the shift.
- Record any unusual occurrences or problems arising to the Duty Manager and take appropriate action.
- Ensure that wake up calls are made promptly.
- Complete cleaning tasks at night time in limited areas of the hotel.
- Any other duties as will be assigned.

1. Guest Relations:
· To cheerfully greet everybody entering the hotel.
· To check in and out guests in a friendly manner.
· To deal with guest queries and requests, act as an information source; provide details of local places of interest and activities.
· To anticipate guests needs in order to enhance service quality and increase customer satisfaction.
· To take ownership of guest complaints, ensuring that they are dealt with to their conclusion and notifying your manager of the situation.
· To promote the hotel’s customer care policy at all times.
3. Sales:
· To have a complete knowledge of the company and its various products and services.
· To maximise sales opportunities for the company’s hotels and services.
4. Communication and Teamwork:
· To be helpful to colleagues requiring assistance in carrying out their duties.
· To be flexible in assisting the smooth running of the hotel.
· To maintain regular and effective communication with all other departments.
· To attend briefing and training sessions as organised by your manager.
· To respect fellow colleagues, management and owners of the company.
5. Efficiency and Accuracy:
· To carry out all reception duties to the specified standards.
· To be responsible for the security of guest’s luggage and room keys.
· To be responsible for the reception float, ensuring it is correct at the end of each shift.
· To answer telephones promptly, transfer calls and take messages accurately.
· To ensure immediate delivery of faxes, mail and laundry.
· To take reservations and follow up with accurate administration.
· To pay particular attention to detail when posting to and sending out accounts.
· To take note of any lost property or maintenance problems and follow up through the relevant department.
