Job Description:
As a Solar PV Electrician at North Cork Electrical, you will play a crucial role in the installation and maintenance of solar PV systems across Munster.
Responsibilities:
- Installing solar PV systems on residential, commercial, and agricultural buildings, ensuring compliance with relevant codes and regulations.
- Wiring and installing a variety of PV inverters, hybrid inverters, diverters, and EV chargers to optimize system performance.
- Conducting comprehensive tests on electrical components to guarantee the safety and effectiveness of installations.
- Inspecting electrical systems and equipment for any signs of damage, malfunctions, or safety hazards, and addressing issues promptly.
- Engaging with homeowners and clients to provide guidance on installation processes and address any concerns or questions they may have.
- Completing all assigned tasks within designated timeframes, while maintaining a high level of attention to detail and quality.
- Compiling, recording, and submitting all necessary documentation and photographs required for each installation, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as an electrician, with a specific focus on solar PV installations preferred.
- Valid Electrical Trade Certification or equivalent qualification.
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, components, and wiring methods, with a keen understanding of safety standards and regulations.
- Familiarity with PV inverters, hybrid inverters, diverters, and EV chargers, and the ability to wire and install them effectively.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail, with the ability to troubleshoot electrical issues efficiently.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with clients and team members.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to customer sites across Munster as required.

- Are you a qualified electrician with a recognised electrical qualification?
- How many years of experience do you have working specifically with Solar PV systems?
- Do you have experience commissioning and fault-finding Solar PV and battery storage systems?
- Do you have experience carrying out quality-control inspections on work completed by other electricians/installers?
- Are you comfortable identifying installation defects and requiring corrective works before signing off an installation?
- Which systems have you installed, commissioned or fault-found?
- Can you test and verify CT clamp positioning, direction and sequencing and diagnose incorrect power-flow readings?
- Are you experienced with battery commissioning, communication faults, BMS/BC connections and inverter-to-battery communication?
- Can you carry out and document AC and DC electrical testing on a Solar PV installation?
- Can you inspect an installation for cable sizing, protection, isolators, earthing/bonding, containment, terminations and distribution-board compliance?
- Are you comfortable inspecting roof installations for panel mounting, cable management, tray/containment, weatherproofing and general workmanship?
- Would you be comfortable carrying out pull checks/torque verification on electrical terminations and documenting any defects found?
- Can you read electrical drawings, single-line diagrams and manufacturer installation requirements?
- Are you comfortable using manufacturers' monitoring portals/apps to investigate generation, grid import/export, battery behaviour, alarms and system settings?
- Are you comfortable producing a detailed QC report with photographs/videos showing defects, corrective works and final installation condition?
