Job Title: Automation Engineer
Reports to: Vision Delivery Manager
Job Summary:
The Automation Engineer will lead the design, commission validation of machine vision related solutions, primarily for FDA regulated companies. He/she will support sales productivity by providing technical input into our Machine Vision sales quotations to ensure projects are costed accurately and timely while meeting customer requirements. Responsibilities:
Take a leading role in the design, development, installation, commissioning validation of the vision, electrical, software and automation-based elements of the solution at the customer’s site or machine builder facility
Acting as Vision SME, assist the sales team in the pre-sales activities to include site surveys and quote preparation
Have a full understanding of the requirements, customer documentation including annotating and feeding back on customer URS, and technical solution
Liaise with the Sales team to ensure that all information to accurately assess the requirements to prepare and cost a complete quotation are in place
The role requires contact with Customers, including attendance to site meetings and survey packaging lines to assist in providing a technical solution
Manage third party suppliers for procurement of hardware, software and services
Take a SME role in the development of our Vision solutions for customers
You will promote continuous improvement through the provision of feedback to the engineering team in relation to deployment experience of integrated vision and software solutions
Identify scope creep or when changes/new requirements are being introduced and communicate same to management and prepare customer quotes to support additional customer requirements
Required to travel in Ireland and rare but occasional travel abroad
Other duties as required
Requirements:
Relevant third level qualification such as a diploma/degree in an Engineering discipline. Electronic, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering preferred
Experience in working with multiple discipline projects
Excellent computer skills, MS Word, Excel, Project
Meticulous attention to detail
Knowledge of regulatory requirements and structured standards and practices for regulated Industry including FDA and GAMP
Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
Ability to work with multiple disciplines including: in-house Engineering, Operations, Quality and Product Development and Sales departments as well as partners, contractors, suppliers and customers
Experience in design and development of machine vision solutions preferable
Experience in installing and troubleshooting machine vision solutions desirable
Experience creating regulatory documents such as Functional Design Specifications and system validation documents.
SQL knowledge as both our vision products use SQL so to understand some limitations/ functions to be able to liaise with RD
An understanding of manufacturing processes, with experience in the pharmaceutical and/or medical devices industries an advantage
Experience working with PLCs and Automation systems for manufacturing is advantageous, particularly Allen Bradley and Siemens PLC.
Proven record of delivering against set goals
Self-motivated and resourceful
Some commercial experience an advantage
