Mechanical Site Engineer / Mechanical Construction Supervisor
Location: Kerry, Ireland
Employment Type: Full-Time
Project: Landmark hospitality redevelopment
Role Profile
ASMS is seeking a Mechanical Site Engineer / Mechanical Construction Supervisor to join our site team on a major refurbishment and redevelopment project in Kerry.
This role is suited to someone who combines strong mechanical engineering knowledge with practical site construction experience. The ideal candidate will be comfortable reviewing drawings, coordinating RAMS, managing subcontractors, resolving site issues, and driving mechanical services installation through to commissioning and handover.
This is not a purely design-based engineering role. We are looking for a hands-on, site-based mechanical professional who understands how mechanical systems are built, coordinated, inspected, tested, and delivered on a live construction project.
Key Responsibilities
- Review mechanical drawings, specifications, technical submissions, and coordinated services layouts.
- Identify buildability issues, clashes, missing information, and site coordination risks.
- Coordinate mechanical subcontractors and installation teams on site.
- Work closely with the Construction Manager, Project Manager, and wider site management team.
- Manage RAMS reviews, permits, inspections, quality check sheets, and safe systems of work.
- Coordinate HVAC, plumbing, public health, plantroom, pipework, ventilation, and associated mechanical services.
- Track progress against construction programmes and support short-term planning.
- Raise and manage RFIs, technical queries, and site coordination issues.
- Attend site coordination meetings and provide clear progress updates.
- Support procurement, material call-offs, deliveries, and installation sequencing.
- Carry out quality inspections and ensure works are completed to specification.
- Support commissioning, snagging, O&M manuals, demonstrations, training, and handover.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will have:
- A background in mechanical engineering, building services, mechanical trades, or mechanical contracting.
- Experience in a site-based mechanical role on construction projects.
- Strong ability to read drawings and understand mechanical services installation.
- Experience coordinating RAMS, permits, inspections, RFIs, and quality documentation.
- Good understanding of HVAC, plumbing, public health, pipework, ventilation, and plantroom systems.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work with site management, consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- A process-driven approach with good attention to detail.
- The confidence to lead mechanical works on site while still engaging with engineering and technical coordination.
