Barista / All-Rounder – Trough Café
As a Barista/All-Rounder at Trough Café, you’ll play an important role in delivering the high standards of coffee, service, and hospitality that our café is known for. As a specialty coffee shop, we take pride in the quality of every coffee we serve, from preparation and presentation to the experience our customers receive.
We’re looking for a hardworking, reliable, and enthusiastic team member who takes pride in their work, enjoys working with people, and understands the importance of maintaining consistently high standards in a busy café environment.
Responsibilities
Specialty Coffee Preparation:
Prepare and serve high-quality specialty coffee to our standards, with strong attention to consistency, presentation, and taste. Confidently operate our La Marzocco and ensure every coffee is prepared to a consistently high standard.
Customer Service:
Provide friendly, professional, and efficient service to every customer. Take orders accurately, answer questions, accommodate special requests where possible, and ensure customers have a positive experience from the moment they arrive.
Maintaining High Standards:
Keep the café, service areas, equipment, and workstations clean, organised, and presentable throughout the shift. Take pride in maintaining the high standards expected at Trough Café.
Stock & Inventory:
Monitor stock levels of coffee, milk, syrups, packaging, and other café supplies, communicating with management when stock needs to be replenished.
Cash Handling:
Process customer payments accurately and efficiently, handling cash and card transactions professionally and providing receipts when required.
Teamwork:
Work closely with the café team to ensure smooth and efficient service, particularly during busy periods. Support your colleagues, communicate clearly, and contribute to a positive and respectful working environment.
Reliability & Flexibility:
Be dependable and punctual, with the flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and public holidays. Weekend availability is an important part of this role.
Qualifications & Experience
- Previous experience as a Barista or in a café/hospitality environment is preferred.
- A genuine interest in specialty coffee and a commitment to serving coffee to a consistently high standard.
- Experience using a La Marzocco and confidence working with professional coffee equipment.
- A strong work ethic and a hardworking, hands-on approach.
- Ability to work efficiently and remain organised in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- High attention to detail and pride in maintaining cleanliness and presentation.
- Ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
- Reliable, punctual, and willing to take initiative.
- Flexibility to work weekends, early mornings, evenings, and public holidays as required.
- A positive attitude and a willingness to go the extra mile for both customers and the team.
- Ability to work between mulitple of our loctions.
- minimum of 2 year experince in this role.
