Purpose of the role: The purpose of this role is to deliver specialist nursing care in line with the five core concepts set out in the Framework for the Establishment of Clinical Nurse Specialist posts (4th edition), National Council for the Professional Development of Nursing and Midwifery (NCNM), 2008. The successful candidate will work as a member of the multidisciplinary team providing a patient centered quality and seamless service.
The purpose of this Clinical Nurse Specialist /Clinical Nurse Manager 2 role is to support a non-ED direct access route for Oncology/Haematology patients who are experiencing a disease or treatment related complication. The appointee will be responsible for undertaking a patient assessment and act as a point of contact for patients in the ambulatory care setting. The appointee will provide increased access to specialised haematology/oncology nursing care for patients receiving Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapies (SACT) and Oral Anti-Cancer Medicines (OAM) to further enhance patient safety and minimise risks. The appointee will work within the acute oncology/haematology service as a member of the team as this develops.
