Team Leadership & Management
- Lead, manage, motivate, and develop a team of 6 Lead Generation / Business Development Representatives.
- Set clear daily, weekly, and monthly activity and performance targets.
- Ensure each team member understands their KPIs and is accountable for achieving them.
- Maintain a minimum target of 100 outbound calls per team member per working day.
- Manage a team-wide outbound calling target of approximately 600 calls per day.
- Set and monitor daily outbound email activity.
- Conduct daily team briefings and regular one-to-one performance meetings.
- Monitor individual performance and identify opportunities for coaching and development.
- Provide ongoing sales coaching, call coaching, feedback, and training.
- Address underperformance quickly and implement appropriate improvement plans.
- Recognise and encourage high performance.
- Create a positive, competitive, accountable, and results-focused team culture.
- Lead by example and participate directly in lead-generation activity where required.
2. Inbound Lead Management & Qualification
- Take ownership of all inbound sales enquiries generated through the company's marketing channels.
- Ensure all relevant inbound enquiries are contacted and properly qualified.
- Establish and maintain a consistent lead-qualification process.
- Assess prospects based on factors such as:
- Property type
- Location
- Energy usage
- Solar requirements
- Project size
- Budget
- Timescales
- Decision-making authority
- Commercial potential
- Ensure qualified leads are passed to the appropriate sales or technical team promptly.
- Monitor lead response times and follow-up activity.
- Ensure no viable opportunity is lost due to poor follow-up or inadequate qualification.
- Track inbound lead-to-appointment and lead-to-sale conversion rates.
- Continually review the quality of inbound leads and provide feedback to the marketing team.
3. Outbound Lead Generation
Develop and manage a structured outbound lead-generation strategy across the solar energy market.
Responsibilities include:
- Manage daily outbound calling campaigns.
- Manage targeted email outreach campaigns.
- Identify and research new potential customers.
- Build targeted prospect lists.
- Identify decision-makers and key contacts.
- Develop prospecting strategies for residential and commercial opportunities.
- Conduct cold calling and outbound business development.
- Develop effective call scripts, email templates, and outreach processes.
- Continually test and improve outreach messaging.
- Generate appointments and qualified sales opportunities for the sales team.
- Build and maintain a consistent sales pipeline.
4. Business Development
The Lead Generation Manager will play an active role in identifying new areas of commercial growth.
This includes targeting:
- Commercial property owners
- Business owners
- Property developers
- Landowners
- Facilities managers
- Property management companies
- Construction companies
- Developers
- Industrial and commercial premises
- Agricultural businesses
- Retail businesses
- Hospitality businesses
- Other organisations with significant energy requirements
The manager will be expected to identify new markets, industries, partnerships, and opportunities where solar energy solutions can provide commercial value.
5. Solar Energy Sector Knowledge
The successful candidate will develop and maintain a strong understanding of the solar industry, including:
- Solar PV systems
- Commercial and residential solar solutions
- Battery storage
- Energy consumption and energy costs
- Solar project requirements
- The commercial benefits of solar
- Renewable energy trends
- Customer pain points and buying motivations
- Competitor activity
- Relevant market developments
The Lead Generation Manager must ensure that the team can confidently communicate the commercial and environmental benefits of solar energy to prospective customers.
They should also ensure that the team does not overpromise or provide technical information outside their level of expertise and that qualified opportunities are appropriately handed to the technical/sales team.
6. AI, Automation & Technology
A key responsibility of the role will be to identify and implement ways that AI and technology can increase lead-generation efficiency and team productivity.
