Geraghty Joinery is looking for a skilled and detail oriented Joinery Spray Painter to join the existing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for applying finishes to high-end bespoke joinery products ensuring high-quality standards are met. The role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a background in joinery and a keen interest in achieving high quality finishes to a wide range of joinery products.
Key Responsibilities
- Surface Preparation: Sanding, filling, priming and masking of timber, MDF, and veneers to ensure a completely smooth surface before applying coatings.
- Paint Application: Operate spray equipment to apply water-based coatings and stains to consistent high standards.
- Color Mixing: Mix, match, and thin paints according to strict client specifications and job orders.
- Quality Control: Inspect finished pieces for any defects like runs, dust inclusions, or uneven coverage, performing touch-ups as necessary.
- Equipment Maintenance: Conduct daily cleaning and maintenance of spray guns and spray room filters to ensure a safe and efficient workplace.
- Safety & Compliance: Adhere strictly to health and safety regulations regarding chemical handling, proper ventilation, and the correct use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Ideal Skills & Qualifications
- Experience: Experience as a spray painter/finisher, specifically within a woodworking, furniture, or similar setting preferred.
- Technical Knowledge: Proven proficiency with spray systems and various timber coatings.
- Physical Stamina: Capability to lift joinery components and stand for prolonged periods inside a spray room environment.
- Soft Skills: Strong time-management skills to ensure strict manufacturing deadlines are reached, coupled with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
