Direct Support Workers – Local Centres
(Monday to Friday) Day Services
St. Michael’s House are recruiting Direct Support Workers to support our Local Centres Day Services – Northside (Ballymun, Finglas, Santry, Swords)
St. Michael's House is a community based organisation committed to providing a quality person centred service and high standard of living to people with an intellectual disability in the greater Dublin area.
Local Centres are day services providing supports and activities to adults with complex needs arising from a combination of intellectual, physical and/or sensory disabilities. The Local Centres are a person centred service guided and supported by the standards of New Directions and through individual Cosan programmes and QQI courses. The service aims to meet the needs of each individual service user promoting independence and quality of life. The day service team are comprised of different skill mix reflecting the needs of the persons using the service. The team may include Nurses, Social care workers and Direct Support workers and is supported by the MDT.

The ideal Direct Support Worker must possess:
A minimum of one of the following Qualifications:
- Intellectual Disability Practice (5M1761)
- Community Health Services (5M4468)
- Health Service Skills (5M3782)
- Healthcare Support (5M4339)
- Community Care (5M2786)
- Nursing Studies (5M4349)
Experience Required:
- At least 1 year previous experience of supporting individuals with Intellectual disability
- Experience of promoting community inclusion and active participation.
- Experience providing individuals with positive behaviour supports
- Experience working with families, clinicians and other networks of support
- Possess excellent communication skills
Salary Scale – Autism Support Workers: Successful candidates will be paid in line with June 26 HSE revised consolidated Care Assistant (Disability) pay scale; point 1 – €34,881 – point 13 €48,434 based on working a 39 hour week. Should you have no prior public sector experience you will be placed on point 1 of the pay-scale above.
