- Salary: The gross salary scale applicable to the grade of post is €69,625 - €107,727 per annum plus a supervisory allowance of €2517 per annum (rates effective 01.06.2026). For appointment durations of less than 12 months, the salary will be calculated on a pro-rata basis.

The role of the Assistant to Head of Department within the Department of Computing and Mathematics is an integral role to the maintenance of the department's quality and reputation. The Assistant to Head of Department will take on coordination duties within the Department of Computing and Mathematics to support the Head of Department. The Assistant to Head of Department will also deliver a number of academic hours’ equivalent to one module within the department.
Key Responsibilities/ Duties:
- Chair of Teaching & Learning sub-committee of the School of Science and Computing.
- Chair of Data Group committee of the School of Science and Computing.
- Co-Ordinator of the Department of Computing and Mathematics Industry Board.
- Management of school visits and social media communication.
- Coordination of Try Computing events and SETU Waterford, open events.
- Coordination of outreach including transition year activities / Coder Dojo involvement / SETU Waterford, Computing Camps.
- Coordination of internal communication mechanisms (SharePoint / OneDrive /MS Teams / Zoom)
- Coordinate and arrange programme boards and programme development meetings in liaison with programme leaders and school administration.
- Coordination of marketing material related to programmes in conjunction with programme leaders.
- Other academic and managerial duties assigned by the Head of Department of Computing and Maths, or the Head of School of Science and Computing.
