Environmental Service Engineer
Company Background:
TE Laboratories Ltd (TelLab) are a science-based SME based in Tullow Co Carlow. It is a multi-divisional company and is active in Irish/UK and European marketplace. Operations are conducted from a new purpose built laboratory complex which includes a number of accredited laboratories, chemical manufacture, environmental sensors, consultancy, training events and an active R&D division.
Overview:
The successful candidate will be responsible for the collection of samples from sites such as Landfills, Quarries, IPPC, Construction sites, Local Authorities etc. liaising with the Sales Dept., and Laboratory in respect of samples. The successful candidate will ideally have experience in a similar role.
Please Note: For insurance purposes all applicants must be a minimum of 25 years old.
Responsibilities:
- Collection of ground water, surface water, and Trade effluents samples from various sites around Ireland.
- Recording on site measurements from sites such as Landfills, IPPC, Quarries and Industrial sites.
- Transport and preservation of samples back to the Laboratory.
- Completing and updating Chain of Custody (forms) to Lab administration.
- Coordinating with the Team Leader regarding the Sampling Schedule.
- Liaising with the Sales Dept. and the Laboratory to ensure Customers requirements are being met as well as regular customer interaction on site or via phone.
- Trouble shooting any problems and queries either with Sales or the Laboratory or externally with Customers.
- Regular testing on site, eg: pH levels/Dissolved Oxygen.
- Ensuring correct equipment is being taken to site.
- Installing equipment on sites, eg: various samplers.
- Ensuring daily allocated jobs are on the tablet device before departing to site.
- Adhere to specific protocol for entering premises and collecting samples.
- Ensure resources and equipment are prepared, calibrated and ready for use.
Essential skills
- Highly organized with the ability to work on own initiative.
- Good attention to detail, problem solver, and good time management.
- Excellent communications skills (written and oral) and presentation skills.
- Degree in Environmental Science is not essential but would be an advantage.
- Previous driving experience in a similar role would be advantageous.
- Fluent spoken and written English.
- Full clean driving licence, over 25 years of age to comply with Company Car Insurance.
