Role Overview
St. Cecilia's School is looking for a reliable, hands-on Caretaker to join our team. This is a varied role covering the day-to-day maintenance and security of our buildings and grounds, and the successful candidate will be an important part of how the school runs for our students and staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Security: Opening and locking up the school, managing the alarm system and acting as keyholder for emergency call-outs.
- Maintenance & Repairs: Minor plumbing, carpentry, painting and decorating, and overseeing heating and water systems. Cleaning of windows and general upkeep of the building.
- Grounds & Cleaning: Maintaining gardens, mowing lawns, strimming, gritting pathways in winter, and working alongside the cleaning team to maintain hygiene standards and manage waste and recycling.
- Health & Safety: Monitoring and reporting health and safety issues in line with current legislation.
- Event Support: Setting up furniture and equipment for school events, staff meetings and evening functions.
- Deliveries: Receiving and distributing school supplies and equipment.
Requirements
- Experience: Previous experience in general maintenance, caretaking, or a trade such as plumbing or carpentry is desirable.
- Skills: Ability to work independently and as part of a team, using initiative to get things done.
- Communication: Good people skills and a friendly manner when dealing with students, staff, and contractors.
- Compliance: Garda Vetting and valid references will be required.
- Driving Licence: A full, clean Irish driving licence is preferred.
- Training: Willingness to attend relevant courses as required.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: €15.00-€17.00 per hour
