Role Overview
The Team Lead will play a vital role in assisting the owner & manager managing the day-to-day operations of Spilt Milk, ensuring smooth processes, efficient cost management, and high employee productivity. This role requires strong organizational skills, leadership, and the ability to make decisions that improve efficiency, quality, and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Team Management:
- Create and manage the weekly staff roster to ensure proper coverage.
- Monitor employee productivity and ensure adherence to break schedules.
- Write up and enforce opening, closing, and deep-cleaning task lists.
- Delegate tasks and support team members to maintain smooth operations.
- Financial Oversight:
- Visit the bank weekly to deposit cash and obtain change for tills.
- Ensure the daily cash sheet is completed accurately and investigate any discrepancies.
- Implement and maintain effective cash management systems.
- Inventory and Ordering:
- Conduct and delegate weekly stocktakes.
- Order packaging, fresh fruit, coffee, plant milk, and other supplies as needed.
- Monitor stock levels to minimize waste and ensure cost-effectiveness.
- Administrative Duties:
- Send all invoices (hard copies and electronic) to accounts weekly.
- Utilize the Toast till system to gather insights on labour costs, product sales, and other metrics.
- Quality Control & Customer Feedback:
- Maintain high product quality and presentation standards.
- Collect and communicate customer feedback to improve offerings.
- Implement upselling techniques to boost sales.

- Cost Management:
- Labour costs
- Minimize waste to meet agreed-upon weekly targets.
- Operational Excellence:
- Ensure all tasks (cleaning, cash management, stocktaking, etc.) are completed efficiently and to a high standard.
- Proactively identify and report areas for improvement in processes, products, or employee management.
- Leadership & Communication:
- Lead by example and motivate the team to deliver exceptional service.
- Use intuition and judgment to communicate concerns, opportunities, or suggestions to management.
- Compliance & Safety:
- Adhere to and enforce health, safety, and hygiene standards at all times.
What We’re Looking For
- At least 1 years previous experience in a supervisory or team leader role, preferably in a food or retail environment essential.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Financial awareness, including experience managing labour costs, waste, and stock.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to problem-solve and make decisions independently.
- Proficiency in using point-of-sale systems (experience with Toast is a plus).
- Passion for high-quality food and beverages, with a customer-first mindset.
