St. Paul's Nursing Home is a 57 bed nursing home in Dooradoyle, Limerick. We are seeking an Assistant Director of Nursing to join our established team due to internal promotion. The ideal candidate will be an experienced nurse leader and will be in knowledgeable in supporting staff, maintaining safe practices and strive for clinical excellence and quality improvement.
Responsibilities:
Clinical Leadership
- Support the Director of Nursing in the day to day clinical operational management of the nursing home
- Ensure the safe delivery of effective, person-centred care to all residents
- Supervise and support nursing, healthcare assistant and ancillary staff
- Promote best practice in dementia and gerontological care
- Participate in clinical audit, risk management and incident investigation
- Ensure medication management practices comply with professional and regulatory standards
- Act as Nurse in Charge in the absence of the Director of Nursing
Governance & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with HIQA standards and relevant healthcare legislation
- Assist with HIQA inspections and implementation of action plans
- Maintain accurate clinical records and documentation
- Monitor infection prevention and control procedures and promote antimicrobial stewardship
- Ensure cleanliness and hygiene in the home is to the highest standard
- Support safeguarding and protection of vulnerable adults
Staff management & Development
- Participate in recruitment, induction and retention of staff
- Support performance management, staff appraisals and staff supervision
- Identify training needs, manage training matrix and facilitate ongoing professional development
- Promote a positive working environment and effective team communication
Resident Care
- Ensure residents' rights, dignity, privacy and independence are maintained at all times
- Support care planning and regular reviews of residents needs
- Develop and maintain excellent relationships with resident, families and relatives
- Manage complaints and resolve concerns professionally and promptly
- Liaise with residents, families, GP's, allied health professionals and external agencies
Operational Responsibilities
- Assist with roster management and staffing levels
- Support budgetary control and efficient use of resources
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives
- Ensure health & safety polices are adhered to
Requirements
- Qualified nurse with at least 3 years management experience in the last 6 years in care of the older person
- Post registration management qualification
- Proven track record in clinical management
- Excellent leadership, organisational and communication skills
Salary
