About the Role
Cork English Academy is an established, ACELS-accredited adult English language school located in the heart of Cork City. We offer a collaborative and welcoming work environment with a strong focus on client service and international engagement.
We are currently seeking a Business Development Officer to join our team on a Specific Purpose Contract to cover maternity leave. This role is for an inital period of 6 months but may be extended as required.
The successful candidate will be responsible for reviewing current relationships with our international network of third-party agents, identifying new markets and partnerships and ensuring a high level of client satisfaction, and contributing to the development and implementation of sales strategies to drive continued business growth.
This is a client-facing, cross-functional role that supports both retention and expansion within the Adult English Language Teaching (ELT) market.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development
Market Expansion
- Analyse market trends and customer needs to identify opportunities for growth.
- Actively contribute to identifying and developing new markets in alignment with the school’s global sales strategy.
Review of Existing Partnerships
- Review and assess performance of existing partnerships
- Maintain and update partnership agreements and contact details
Email Marketing
- Create and manage agent newsletters and email campaigns using Mailchimp.
- Keep agents informed of new campaigns, promotions, and important updates.
- Regularly segment and update mailing lists to ensure targeted communications.
Onboarding New Agents
- Set up new partners in the CRM system and provide online onboarding training.
- Welcome new partners with in-person presentations and school visits where possible.
- Support agents in becoming familiar with the school, services, and booking processes.
- Reach out to existing parters to offer training for new staff/refresher training for existing staff
Product Knowledge
- Maintain in-depth knowledge of the school’s programmes, courses, and accommodation options.
- Stay up to date with trends in the ELT industry and competitor offerings.
Key Account Monitoring & Reporting
- Monitor and analyse regional sales performance and conversion metrics.
- Produce regular activity reports and sales updates to inform strategy.
- Use data insights to support continuous improvement and client retention.
Sales Strategy
- Contribute to the execution of the school’s current B2B sales strategy.
- Assist in achieving agreed revenue targets across key agent markets.
Qualifications & Experience
- Proven experience in a similar role in the ELT sector is essentail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-service mindset.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to analyse data and make informed decisions.
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills with a high attention to detail.
- Cross-cultural awareness and the ability to engage effectively with diverse international partners.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, CRM software, and Mailchimp (or similar newsletter/email tools).
Pay: From €35,000.00 per year
