Alpha Facilities Maintenance is growing and we’re hiring a Commercial Air Conditioning Apprentice to join our service and projects team. This is a hands-on role working alongside experienced technicians across commercial sites (offices, retail, hospitality, healthcare, industrial). You’ll learn the trade through structured on-the-job training and apprenticeship training phases.
What you’ll be doing
- Assisting qualified engineers/technicians with commercial HVAC maintenance (PPM) and reactive callouts
- Supporting installations and small works (mounting units, containment, pipework support, insulation, general fit-out tasks)
- Helping with basic checks and recording readings (temperatures, airflow observations, visual inspections, etc.) under supervision
- Learning safe working practices in plant rooms, rooftops, ceiling voids, and live commercial environments
- Maintaining tools, keeping the van/site organised, and ensuring high standards of housekeeping
- Communicating professionally with clients on-site and representing the company well
Systems you’ll get exposure to
- VRF/VRV and split systems
- Rooftop packaged units
- AHUs / FCUs and ventilation-related equipment
- Controls and basic BMS interaction (depending on site)
What we’re looking for (essential)
- A strong interest in building a long-term career in commercial air conditioning / HVAC/R
- Practical/mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work as part of a team
- Comfortable working at heights and in confined areas (with proper safety controls)
- Eligible to work in Ireland
- Full clean driving licence (preferred) or working toward it
Tickets/certifications
- Safe Pass (required for many sites) — must already have, or be willing to obtain quickly
- Manual Handling — desirable (we can support training)
- Any F-Gas-related awareness/certification is a plus (depending on apprenticeship stage and role scope)
