This role owns the strategy, reliability, and continuous improvement of every electrical and automation system on site, from PLCs and SCADA to high-voltage distribution. You will shape how automation runs today and how it evolves, working across cheese, powder, and utilities operations that rarely stand still. Own the site's Automation & Control Systems Roadmap, aligned to our operational excellence and digital transformation goals.
Set the standard for control philosophies, PLC programming, SCADA/HMI design, alarm management, and cybersecurity.
Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis across PLCs, SCADA/DCS, HMIs, VSDs, MCCs, switchgear, transformers, generators, and high-voltage equipment.
Support automation across raw milk reception, cheese and mozzarella manufacture, filtration, spray drying, and utilities (boilers, CHP, refrigeration, water treatment).
Lead the electrical and automation scope of capital projects - specs, vendor management, FAT/SAT, commissioning.
Drive improvements in safety, quality, reliability, throughput, yield, and energy efficiency.
Keep engineering documentation current - P&IDs, FDS, electrical schematics, software backups.
Ensure systems meet food safety and regulatory standards, including CCP validation and data integrity.
Build strong working relationships with automation suppliers, OEMs, integrators, and internal teams across Operations, Quality, Engineering, and IT.
Mentor and coach engineers, electricians, and technicians.
Essential Requirements
Qualified Instrumentation or Electrical Technician (Trade Certificate).
10+ years' experience in electrical and automation engineering within a manufacturing environment.
Strong expertise in PLC, SCADA, DCS, and HMI platforms (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Schneider, or similar).
Proven experience with industrial automation and high-voltage electrical systems.
Desirable Requirements
Experience in dairy or food & beverage manufacturing.
Bachelor's degree in Automation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Control Systems, or equivalent experience.
Experience leading capital project commissioning and start-up.
