James Cody & Sons LLP are seeking to recruit a Legal Secretary / Legal Executive to join its Probate Department. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated and organised individual to work in their busy legal practice with an established probate and private client workload.
The Role
The successful candidate will provide administrative and legal support in the Probate Department, assisting with the progression of probate, estate administration and related private client matters.
Key responsibilities:
- Preparing and managing probate documentation, including applications to the Probate Office;
- Liaising with clients, beneficiaries, executors, financial institutions, Revenue, the Probate Office and other third parties;
- Drafting correspondence, attendance notes and legal documents;
- Assisting with the administration of estates from initial instruction through to completion;
- Gathering information in relation to assets and liabilities of estates;
- Preparing schedules, statements and supporting documentation;
- Managing diaries, appointments, calls and client communications;
The Candidate
The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous experience working in a legal environment preferably in probate;
- Strong organisational and file management skills;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
- A professional and empathetic manner when dealing with clients, particularly in sensitive estate matters;
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy;
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
- Good IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and case management systems;
- An ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
Experience in probate practice in Ireland, including familiarity with Probate Office procedures and Revenue requirements, would be a distinct advantage.

Remuneration
A competitive remuneration package will be offered, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Pay: €27,300.00-€36,000.00 per year
