The Role
Due to continued growth, we are seeking a Mid-Level Electrical Design Engineer to join our engineering team in Cork.
This is an office-based design position suited to an engineer with approximately 5+ years' post-graduate experience who is looking to take ownership of projects and further develop their design, technical and client-facing skills within a consultancy environment.
The successful candidate will contribute to the delivery of electrical engineering designs for industrial and commercial projects, working alongside experienced mechanical and electrical engineers from project inception through to completion.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce electrical engineering designs for industrial and commercial projects.
- Prepare detailed electrical calculations and system designs.
- Develop electrical drawings, schematics and layouts using AutoCAD and Revit.
- Prepare specifications, reports, tender documentation and technical submissions.
- Coordinate with utility providers and other external stakeholders.
- Liaise with clients, architects, contractors and multidisciplinary design teams.
- Support projects through concept design, tender, construction and commissioning phases.
- Review contractor submittals and respond to technical queries.
- Ensure designs comply with applicable regulations, standards and client requirements.
- Assist with site inspections and project handover activities as required.
Requirements
Essential
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or closely related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years' post-graduate experience in electrical building services or industrial electrical design.
- Experience producing electrical engineering designs and documentation.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD.
- Strong understanding of electrical services design principles.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Ability to manage workload and work independently within a project team environment.
Requirements
Desirable
- Experience using Revit and BIM workflows.
- Experience in lighting design.
- Knowledge of industrial utility and process environments.
- Chartered Engineer status or progress towards chartership.
- Membership of Engineers Ireland or another recognised professional institution.
