Purpose of the Role;
To provide a structured approach within the D15 family support service for families affected by substance misuse in the area.
This role will also encompass a focus on providing intervention to adults affected by alcohol use.
Primary responsibilities / Duties of the role;
- To identify, engage and work directly with family members affected by a loved ones drug and alcohol use.
- Ensure the highest ethical and professional standards of care are delivered in a safe environment for family members.
- Promote and deliver evidence-based programmes such as The 5 Step Method, Steps 2 Cope, SAOR, Extended Brief Intervention (EBI) and Parenting Under Pressure (PUP).
- Empower service users to make positive meaningful changes and enhance progression through evidence based interventions.
- Deliver and facilitate groups with parents both inhouse and within the community.
- Work alongside HSE Integrated Alcohol Service to provide support to adults affected by alcohol addiction on a local level.
- Create and develop strategic supports with other treatment and rehabilitation services to enhance the recovery of adults and families.
- Be involved with relevant sub groups for treatment rehabilitation and recovery for adults and families.
- Develop strategic partnerships with other agencies, including, addiction services, mental health, social care and community agencies.
- Prepare and submit relevant outcome reports, maintain and develop evidence of effectiveness.
- Be proficient in Child Protection guidelines and recognition of risk factors and Hidden Harm in the family.
- Engage target groups with skills in empowering others and facilitating development.
- Actively use own initiative and work effectively within a pressurised environment.
Essential Requirements
· 3rd level qualification in the social care field such as; --
+Family support Work
+Youth Work
+Addiction related
· A min of 2 years relevant full time paid work in the field of:
-Family Support
-Families affected by drug or alcohol misuse
-Addiction treatment and support
- Proven record of working in client centred non-judgmental ethos.
· Experience of group facilitation and one to one service provision.
· IT skills (e.g., MS Office, Word, Excel, Power Point)
· Access to car and full driving licence.
Desirable Requirements
· Trained/Accredited in 5 Step Method, Steps to Cope, SAOR, EBI.
- Trained/Accredited in evidence based parenting intervention e.g Parenting Under Pressure
· Experience of working with people coping with addiction.
