As our client base continues to expand, we are seeking an enthusiastic and client-focused Accounting Technician Trainee to join our growing team.
The Opportunity
This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop your accounting career while working closely with a diverse portfolio of clients. While VAT compliance will form a significant part of your responsibilities, excellent client services underpins everything we do. We are looking for someone who enjoys working with people, building relationships, and helping business owners understand and meet their financial obligations.
You will become a key point of contact for clients, helping them navigate VAT requirements, ensuring deadlines are met, and delivering a professional, dependable service that reflects Kinore's commitment to client excellence.
The successful candidate will receive ongoing mentoring, practical training, and financial support towards achieving their Accounting Technicians Ireland (ATI) qualification.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with a portfolio of clients.
- Act as a trusted day-to-day contact for VAT and bookkeeping-related queries.
- Communicate regularly with clients to ensure records and information are received on time.
- Provide a professional, responsive, and proactive service experience.
- Help clients understand VAT requirements, filing obligations, and compliance deadlines.
- Identify client issues or opportunities and escalate them appropriately within the team.
- Support Kinore's commitment to delivering exceptional client service and building long-term client relationships.
- Prepare and support submitting VAT returns for a portfolio of clients across various industries.
- Reconcile VAT control accounts and investigate discrepancies.
- Assist with VIES and Intrastat returns where applicable.
- Monitor filing deadlines and ensure compliance obligations are met.
- Maintain accurate and organised client records using cloud accounting software.
General Accounting Support
- Assist with bookkeeping and accounting administration tasks.
- Support senior team members with client engagements and compliance projects.
- Contribute to process improvements that enhance client experience and operational efficiency.
- Maintain high standards of accuracy, confidentiality, and professionalism.
Essential Requirements
- Valid Leaving cert
- A genuine interest in working directly with clients and delivering excellent customer service.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Currently studying towards the Accounting Technicians Ireland (ATI) qualification, or committed to commencing ATI studies in the immediate future.
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple client deadlines effectively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
- Must currently reside in Ireland and have the legal right to work in Ireland.
- Tech Savvy
Desirable Skills
- Experience preparing VAT returns for multiple clients.
- Previous experience working within an accountancy practice.
- Knowledge of Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, or other cloud accounting systems.
- Familiarity with Irish Revenue compliance requirements.
- Experience communicating directly with business owners and clients.
