ROLE Cathedral Guide
REPORTS TO Operations Manager
PURPOSE This role is responsible for welcoming visitors to the Cathedral and ensuring that they have a safe and enjoyable experience whether as tourists, worshippers or pilgrims.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensuring a warm welcome to worshippers and visitors to the Cathedral;
- Working at the Welcome Desk, duties include welcoming visitors, managing visitor entry flow, operating the till, handing out information leaflets and other related duties;
- Gift Shop operation including till operations, cash handling, till counts, stocking and other retail activities as directed by management.
- Conducting guided tours of the Cathedral, gaining a good knowledge of the Cathedral and its history, and passing this on to visitors;
- Opening up the Cathedral and grounds when required;
- Being a welcoming presence to worshippers and visitors at the Cathedral while worship is in progress;
- Assisting Cathedral management in delivery of successful events including (but not limited to) services, concerts and ceremonies;
- Assisting in ensuring the safe operations of the Cathedral as described in the Cathedral Safety Statement;
- Other duties as directed by Cathedral management;
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
Essential:
- Excellent customer service skills – you will have a confident, positive and professional approach;
- Fluent in English;
- A team player who is willing to work in different areas if required;
- Experience of cash and credit card handling procedures;
- A genuine interest in tourism and the heritage attraction industry;
- Reliable and flexible;
Desirable:
- Previous experience working in a tourist/heritage attraction;
- Previous tour guiding experience;
- Previous retail experience;
- Fluent in a second language;
Pay: €14.15-€15.00 per hour
