Job Description
Bell Lane Coffee is a specialty coffee roaster based in Mullingar, Co. Westmeath. We have been roasting coffee since 2012.
We are looking for a General Operative to join our roastery team. This is a hands-on role working in our warehouse-based roastery and supporting the day-to-day production of coffee.
The role includes packing coffee, preparing orders, handling stock, operating machinery, cleaning and general roastery duties.
We are looking for someone who is reliable, practical, works well as part of a team and is willing to learn.
Key Responsibilities:
- Roastery Duties – Carry out day-to-day tasks in the roastery to support production.
- Packing Coffee – Pack and label freshly roasted coffee accurately and efficiently.
- Order Processing – Pick and prepare orders for dispatch.
- Goods In & Out – Help receive deliveries, check goods and prepare orders for collection or delivery.
- Stock Handling – Move, organise and replenish coffee, packaging and other materials as required.
- Equipment Operation – Safely operate equipment such as weigh and fill machines, grinders and sealing machines.
- Cleaning – Keep the roastery, warehouse, equipment and work areas clean and tidy.
- Quality – Carry out basic quality checks and report any issues.
- Stock Checks – Assist with stock counts and report any discrepancies.
- Waste & Recycling – Sort and dispose of waste and recycling correctly.
- Team Support – Work as part of the roastery and warehouse team and support other duties as required.
- Health & Safety – Follow all health and safety procedures, including safe manual handling.
- Process Improvement – Help identify ways to improve efficiency and quality.
- Training & Development – Take part in training to develop skills and knowledge.
Ideal Candidate
- A can-do attitude, strong work ethic and willingness to get stuck in.
- Reliable, practical and able to work well as part of a team.
- Good attention to detail and pride in doing work accurately.
- Able to follow instructions, procedures and health & safety requirements.
- Comfortable working in a busy production and warehouse environment.
- Comfortable with physical work, including lifting, repetitive tasks and standing for periods of time.
- Able to stay organised, manage priorities and adapt to changing daily requirements.
- Previous experience working with machinery or production equipment is an advantage.
- Good communication skills and a willingness to learn.
- An interest in coffee and sustainability is an advantage, but previous coffee experience is not essential.
Requirements
- Full clean driving licence required.
- Forklift licence preferred but not essential.
- Previous warehouse, production or manufacturing experience is beneficial.
- Experience operating machinery or production equipment is beneficial.
- Ability to safely carry out manual handling duties.

- Working Hours: Monday to Thursday: 8 am to 5 pm Friday 8 am to 12
