This role is important in making a significant contribution, developing and maintaining best practice in Diagnostic Radiology services.
About the role
The Radiographer role will assist in the provision of an efficient Diagnostic Imaging service inclusive of general radiography, theatre sessions, mobile radiography and fluoroscopic examinations in IR and Cath Lab. There is a strong emphasis on delivery of high standards of clinical practice and skills in Radiology. This post would suit a recently qualified applicant able to demonstrate previous radiography experience in general, theatre, mobile imaging and fluoroscopy procedures both at student and post graduate level
Operations
Utilise department protocols to undertake imaging procedures to a consistently high standard.
Participate in the rota to cover Radiology services.
Work under the auspices of the Clinical Specialist and within the HC Induction and training program to develop radiographic knowledge and skills.
Consistently make good clinical decisions and to be able to self-evaluate
Take a full and active role in the professional life and professional services of the department.
Use the equipment and accessories correctly, reporting any faults to the relevant Clinical Specialist or to a more senior member of staff on duty.
Keep the equipment clean and the imaging rooms tidy.
Maintain confidentiality in relation to all information regarding patients
Manage the Continuing Professional Development process, and to maintain awareness of current and new techniques.
Play an integral role in the implementation of PACS under supervision of more senior staff.
Take an active role in Quality Assurance, audit and research projects under the direction of more senior staff in general X-ray, theatre and Cath lab.
Provide imaging in the angiography suites after full training, and assist in interventional procedures under clinical supervision
Mentor radiography students from UCD.
Patient Care
Maintain a high standard of patient care and actively participate in the monitoring of standards.
Inform patients, carers and other members of staff about all imaging procedures, examination preparation and aftercare in a timely, professional and corporate way.
Legal and Regulatory Requirements
Be aware of the department's Local Rules and Radiation Protection Policies and to instruct other members of staff in safe practices.
Be familiar with and understand the Clinic's policies and procedures in relation to Fire, Health and Safety at Work and to attend mandatory training.
Undertake any other duty commensurate with the grade of the post as requested by the line manager.

Take personal responsibility for own professional development and keep up to date with evidence based practice and research.

Attend and participate in staff development programmes on an ongoing basis.
To identify and develop personal training needs in conjunction with individual performance reviews and the needs of the Department.

Attend all mandatory training days and ensure that all mandatary training is in date.

Assist with the orientation and induction of new staff, helping them to integrate as members of the team
Qualifications:
BSc in Radiography
CORU Registration
Experience:
Two years of cath lab experience
Knowledge:
Good understanding of legislation relating to Radiation Protection and Health & Safety
Good understanding of the concept of CPD
