Our client is a leading international contractor renowned for delivering large-scale mission-critical facilities across Europe. Due to continued expansion and a strong pipeline of projects in Germany, they are looking to appoint a Senior Quantity Surveyor to strengthen their commercial team.
This is an excellent opportunity to take ownership of the commercial management of major construction packages, working alongside experienced project teams and contributing to the successful delivery of technically challenging developments.
The Role
As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for the commercial management of projects from procurement through to final account, ensuring robust cost control, contractual compliance and commercial performance throughout the project lifecycle.
You will play a key role in maximising project profitability while providing commercial support and guidance to project teams and junior members of the commercial department.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the commercial aspects of construction projects from procurement through to final account.
- Prepare and maintain detailed cost plans, budgets, forecasts and cash flow reports.
- Monitor project expenditure and provide accurate financial reporting to senior management.
- Procure and manage subcontract packages, including tender analysis, negotiations and recommendations for award.
- Administer contracts in accordance with project requirements and contractual obligations.
- Assess, negotiate and agree variations, compensation events, claims and final accounts.
- Identify commercial risks and opportunities, implementing strategies to protect project performance.
- Prepare and submit valuations, applications for payment and commercial reports.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors and project delivery teams.
- Support and mentor Assistant and Intermediate Quantity Surveyors where required.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of commercial processes and best practice.
Candidate Profile
To be considered, you should possess:
- A degree in Quantity Surveying or a related construction discipline.
- A minimum of 5 years' experience in Quantity Surveying, with experience operating at Senior Quantity Surveyor level.
- Experience delivering large-scale construction projects, ideally within data centres, commercial, industrial, pharmaceutical or other major build environments.
- Strong knowledge of cost management, procurement, contract administration and commercial reporting.
- Experience managing subcontract accounts, valuations, variations and final accounts.
- Excellent negotiation, communication and stakeholder management skills.
- The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced project environment while managing multiple priorities.
- A proactive approach with strong commercial awareness and attention to detail.
