We are looking for someone who understands the electrical and technical side of Solar PV and can take a customer from initial enquiry through site survey, system design, quotation and sale.
The successful candidate will be able to assess a property properly, understand the customer's electricity usage and recommend the correct Solar PV and battery solution rather than simply selling the largest system possible.
The Role
You will manage domestic Solar PV opportunities from qualified enquiry through to completed sale.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Contacting and following up with prospective customers.
- Carrying out professional residential Solar PV site surveys.
- Reviewing customers' electricity bills and annual electricity consumption.
- Understanding day/night and smart-meter usage patterns.
- Assessing the customer's current and future electricity requirements.
- Determining the appropriate Solar PV system size.
- Determining whether battery storage is suitable and correctly sizing the battery.
- Assessing roof dimensions, orientation, pitch, shading and usable panel area.
- Identifying suitable panel layouts and mounting requirements.
- Assessing the existing electrical installation.
- Inspecting the meter position, main distribution board and available capacity.
- Identifying inverter and battery locations.
- Measuring and planning AC and DC cable routes.
- Assessing earthing, bonding and electrical protection requirements.
- Identifying additional electrical works required before installation.
- Taking comprehensive photographs and measurements during the survey.
- Producing accurate information for the installation and engineering teams.
- Preparing and presenting customer quotations.
- Clearly explaining Solar PV, battery storage, self-consumption and export to customers.
- Explaining realistic system generation and potential savings.
- Following leads through to sale and maintaining contact with customers throughout the sales process.
- Ensuring what is sold can actually be delivered by the installation team.
What We're Looking For
The ideal candidate will have a strong electrical background combined with good commercial and customer-facing skills.
Previous Solar PV experience would be highly desirable.
You should have a good understanding of:
- Domestic electrical installations
- Solar PV systems
- Hybrid inverters

- AC and DC cable requirements
- CT clamps and energy monitoring
- Solar PV system sizing
- Battery sizing
- Roof suitability and panel layouts

You must also be comfortable discussing technical subjects with customers in straightforward language.
The Person
We are looking for someone who is:
- Technically strong
- Commercially driven
- Confident dealing with customers
- Comfortable closing sales
- Accurate when surveying
- Able to work independently
- Organised with follow-ups
- Comfortable using apps and digital surveying systems
- Focused on designing the right solution for the customer

A qualified electrician with strong sales ability would be particularly suited to this position. We would also consider an experienced Solar PV salesperson/surveyor who can demonstrate strong electrical knowledge.
What We Offer
- Strong pipeline of Solar PV enquiries
- Established electrical and renewable-energy business
- Technical and installation support
