Job Summary
The Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) incorporating Capsule Endoscopy Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) provides specialist assessment, education, monitoring and support to patients with IBD throughout their care pathway. The CNS works collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, evidence-based, patient-centred care and acts as a key resource for patients, families and healthcare professionals.
The CNS is responsible for coordinating and managing the IBD & Capsule Endoscopy nursing service, including patient assessment, preparation, procedure delivery, follow-up and patient education. The role also includes providing telephone and email advice services, leading nurse-led clinics, supporting quality improvement initiatives and contributing to the development of clinical pathways, policies and protocols.
The CNS promotes excellence in clinical practice, education, patient advocacy and service development, while ensuring all care is delivered in accordance with NMBI standards, hospital policies and best practice guidelines.
Qualifications & Experience
Requirements:
Be registered on the general division of the register of nurses maintained by NMBI and hold a current NMBI PIN (essential)
Have 3 or more years post registration experience in an acute setting (essential)
Have experience within the speciality (essential)
Have a minimum of 1 year management experience (desirable)
Have completed a management training programme
Minimum 2 years' experience in gastroenterology/endoscopy nursing (desirable)
Recognised post-registration qualification in Gastroenterology, Endoscopy, or related specialty (desirable)
Experience in nurse-led clinics or specialist services (desirable)
Experience in service development, quality improvement and nurse-led initiatives (desirable)
Have proven clinical and professional ability
Have good IT skills with proficiency in the use of all relevant applications.
Have excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work on his/her own initiative.
Have excellent communication & leadership skills with the ability to positively engage with patients and staff.
Be enthusiastic and highly motivated.
Have a proven ability to work under pressure
Have evidence of commitment to professional development.
Have an ability to deal with staff at all levels within the organisation
