Your new role
As a Senior Engineer, you will act as the lead engineering representative on site, taking full responsibility for coordinating engineering activities, setting out strategy, and ensuring that all technical aspects of the project are delivered to the highest standards.You will provide leadership to site engineering teams, oversee dimensional control, and ensure the implementation of robust quality systems across all work packages. Working closely with the Project Manager and wider delivery team, you will play a key role in ensuring that programme, quality, and safety objectives are achieved.
Key responsibilities will include:
Engineering & Technical Leadership

Leading and managing the on‑site engineering function, providing direction to Site Engineers, Assistant Engineers and subcontractors.

Establishing and maintaining the strategy for engineering setting‑out and site control systems.
-
Acting as the key technical authority for dimensional control, ensuring accuracy across all elements of construction.

Rotating and aligning global grid systems with local grid formats where required.
Surveying & Setting Out
-
Ensuring survey equipment is correctly managed, calibrated, and utilised by the engineering team.

Overseeing the completion of as‑built surveys for all key structural and civil elements.
-
Monitoring tolerances for vertical and horizontal structural components, identifying risks and resolving interface issues.
Quality Assurance & Compliance
-
Acting as the primary point of contact for all quality assurance processes on site.

Creating, reviewing, and implementing Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) across multiple work packages.

Ensuring full compliance with drawings, specifications, and project requirements.

Managing Non‑Conformance Reports (NCRs), including raising, tracking, and closing out defects efficiently.

Driving a "right first time" approach and minimising the cost and impact of rework.
Documentation & Reporting

Maintaining detailed site records, including daily diaries and engineering reports.

Managing and utilising the Request for Information (RFI) process to resolve design queries and missing information.

Ensuring all documentation is accurate, up to date, and aligned with project systems.
Health, Safety & Temporary Works

Supporting and reinforcing safe working practices across all engineering activities.

Taking responsibility for Temporary Works coordination and compliance.

Issuing permits, including "Permits to Break Ground", ensuring all safety and procedural requirements are met.

Supporting lifting operations where required and ensuring safe execution of lifting plans.
Planning & Coordination

Working closely with project management teams to support programme delivery and sequencing.

Reviewing and preparing method statements and risk assessments.

Coordinating subcontractors and ensuring activities are aligned with schedule and quality expectations.
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role, you will be an experienced and technically strong engineering professional with a proven ability to lead on‑site engineering functions across complex construction projects.
Essential requirements:

Degree in Civil Engineering.

Extensive experience in a Senior Engineer or advanced Site Engineer role.

Strong understanding of construction methods across structural, civil, and architectural packages.
-
Proven expertise in dimensional control, setting out, and surveying techniques.
-
Excellent knowledge of quality assurance systems, including ITPs and NCR processes.
-
Experience monitoring construction tolerances and managing multi‑disciplinary interfaces.
-
Strong understanding of engineering documentation, including RFIs and as‑built records.
-
Ability to lead and mentor site engineering teams in a fast‑paced environment.

Excellent communication, organisation and problem‑solving skills.
Desirable qualifications & experience:

Temporary Works Coordinator training.
-
Awareness or training in lifting operations and associated controls.
-
Scaffold inspection/awareness training.
-
Experience using project planning and programming software.
-
Experience working on data centre or other technically complex projects.
