About the Role
The role of the Estimator is to assist in the commercial control of projects in accordance with company policies and procedures.
You will work alongside experienced construction and commercial professionals, contributing to the successful delivery of projects while applying your estimating, quantity surveying, and commercial expertise.

Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the day-to-day commercial and contractual activities throughout the project lifecycle.
- Participate in Pre-Contract Commencement Meetings with the Project Team.
- Generate and maintain project budgets.
- Prepare project cash flows based on the Contract Programme for issue to the Employer’s Quantity Surveyor.
- Remeasure packages as required to identify quantity errors, including over/under measures, process tender enquiries accurately, and mitigate contractual risks.
- Prepare tender enquiry packages in liaison with the Contracts Manager.
- Create, maintain, and utilise procurement trackers.
- Complete subcontract package tender analyses.
- Attend pre-appointment subcontractor meetings to ensure scopes are clearly defined and appoint subcontractors in line with the Company’s subcontract terms and the main contract conditions.
- Validate and approve subcontractors’ interim applications and final submissions, including ensuring compliance with the Construction Contracts Act.
- Notify the Design Team of Change Orders/Variations and track changes on the Change Order/Variation Schedule.
- Attend and actively participate in internal and external project meetings.
- Issue and agree schedules of monthly progress application/valuation dates.
- Prepare and submit monthly valuations and agree these with the Client’s Quantity Surveyor.
- Prepare monthly Cost Value Reconciliation (CVR) Reports and Overall Complete Project Reports for review with Commercial Managers and Contracts Managers.
- Maintain productive working relationships with Design Team professionals and Client representatives throughout the project.
- Ensure the full and proper implementation of the Company’s commercial procedures.
- Any other related duties as required
Qualifications & Experience
- Third-level qualification in Quantity Surveying & Construction Economics or an equivalent relevant degree.
- Previous experience in an estimating, quantity surveying, or commercial construction role.
- Proficiency in quantity surveying/estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong commercial awareness and understanding of construction costs and procurement.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a project team.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and organisational skills.
