Senior Team Lead - Retail & Food
We are looking for an experienced Senior Team Lead - Retail & Food to join our team in Avoca Monkstown.
This is a full-time, permanent role, working 5 days over 7, for an immediate start.
Job Specification
The Senior Team Lead plays a key role in supporting the wider management team while leading the day-to-day operation of our Retail and Food Market departments. You will lead by example, ensuring exceptional customer service, operational excellence and high standards are consistently delivered.
Working closely with the Retail and Food Management teams, you will provide direction, coaching and support to colleagues and take responsibility for the department in the absence of a Manager.
Roles and Responsibilities
Deliver an exceptional customer experience, ensuring the highest standards of service are maintained at all times and customer queries are resolved professionally.
Support the day-to-day operation of the Retail and Food Market departments, ensuring they trade efficiently and effectively.
Act as the senior operational lead in the absence of a Manager, providing leadership and guidance to the team.
Lead, motivate and support colleagues, creating a positive, engaged and high-performing team environment.
Support the delivery of departmental sales and operational objectives through strong commercial awareness and excellent execution.
Assist with stock management, stock availability, waste reduction and shrink control.
Perform end-of-day cash procedures, including cash reconciliation, safe counts, cash drops and accurate lodgement reporting using Avoca systems.
Support the recruitment, onboarding, training and ongoing development of colleagues across tills, merchandising, HACCP, food safety and customer service.
Process orders from internal and external suppliers, create purchase orders and maintain strong supplier relationships.
Ensure retail merchandising and displays are maintained to Avoca's brand standards.
Champion innovation, embrace change and support the successful implementation of new products, promotions and operational initiatives.
Ensure all opening and closing procedures are completed accurately and efficiently.
Adhere to all Avoca systems, policies and procedures.
Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety, HACCP and Food Safety requirements across all operations.
Act as a brand ambassador, ensuring consistency across every aspect of the customer experience.
About You
You'll be a hands-on leader who enjoys working in a fast-paced retail and food environment. You are passionate about delivering exceptional customer service, supporting your team and maintaining high standards across every aspect of the business.
Ideally, you'll have:
Previous experience in a supervisory or team leadership role within retail, food retail or hospitality.
A genuine passion for delivering exceptional customer experiences.
Strong leadership and coaching skills, with the ability to motivate and support others.
Good commercial awareness and an understanding of delivering excellent operational standards.
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks and work effectively in a busy environment.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the confidence to build positive relationships with colleagues and customers.
A proactive, positive and solution-focused approach.
High attention to detail and pride in maintaining exceptional retail standards.
Experience in cash handling, merchandising, stock control or food safety is desirable.
Knowledge of HACCP and Food Safety practices is an advantage.
Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including weekends and busy trading periods, to support the needs of the business.
