Job Title: Clinical Nurse Manager II
Location: Cobh Community Hospital
Contract: Permanent / Full-Time
Hours: 37.5 hours per week (Day Duty)
Reporting To: Director of Nursing / Assistant Director of Nursing
Role Purpose
The Clinical Nurse Manager II (CNM II) will provide clinical leadership and operational management within a designated area, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, person-centred care for older persons. The post holder will support, lead, and manage nursing staff while promoting best practice in care of the elderly in accordance with professional, ethical, and legal standards.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Leadership & Care Delivery
- Lead and coordinate the delivery of high-quality nursing care to older persons.
- Promote evidence-based practice and ensure compliance with HIQA standards and relevant policies.
- Ensure person-centred, dignified, and safe care at all times.
- Support the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care for residents.
- Support activity in the short stay and respite care unit
Management & Staff Leadership
- Provide leadership, supervision, and support to nursing and healthcare staff.
- Participate in staff rostering, ensuring appropriate skill mix and staffing levels.
- Support staff development, performance management, and ongoing education.
- Foster a positive, professional, and collaborative working environment.
Quality, Safety & Governance
- Monitor and evaluate standards of nursing care through audit and quality improvement initiatives.
- Ensure effective risk management and incident reporting procedures.
- Promote infection prevention and control best practices.
- Participate in clinical governance, policy development, and service improvement initiatives.
Communication & Collaboration
- Maintain effective communication with residents, families, multidisciplinary team members, and senior management.
- Act as a resource and role model for best practice in care of the elderly.
- Support residents’ rights, advocacy, and informed decision-making.
Eligibility Criteria
Essential Requirements
- Registered General Nurse (RGN) on the NMBI Register.
- Minimum of 5 years post-registration experience, with significant experience in Care of the Elderly.
- Minimum of 2 years at Senior Staff Nurse level or equivalent.
- Demonstrated leadership and people management skills.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and decision-making abilities.
- Evidence of ongoing professional development.
Desirable
- Management or leadership qualification.
- Experience in a community hospital or long-term care setting.
- Knowledge of HIQA standards and quality improvement frameworks.

Pay: €49,000.00-€57,000.00 per year
