About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Support Engineer – ICS (Infrastructure & Cloud Services) to join our Support Centre team in Enniscorthy, Co. Wexford.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced infrastructure professional to work on a wide range of technology projects while supporting the delivery, maintenance, and optimisation of enterprise server, storage, and cloud environments.
The successful candidate will provide first-line technical support, advanced troubleshooting, infrastructure management, and cloud services support to customers in a fast-paced, service-driven environment. You will work as part of an experienced technical team responsible for maintaining secure, reliable, and scalable IT solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Support & Service Delivery
- Provide initial contact support to customers, including technical diagnosis, troubleshooting, and incident resolution.
- Manage and resolve infrastructure-related issues while meeting service level agreements (SLAs) and key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Deliver excellent customer service through professional communication and effective problem-solving.
- Work collaboratively with internal technical teams and customers to maintain high-quality service delivery.
Server Infrastructure Management
- Design, deploy, configure, and maintain physical and virtual server environments.
- Support business-critical applications and enterprise infrastructure platforms.
- Install, configure, and maintain Windows Server and Linux operating systems.
- Manage server virtualisation technologies including VMware vSphere and Microsoft Hyper-V.
- Monitor server performance, conduct capacity planning, perform optimisation, and support infrastructure upgrades.
Storage Area Network (SAN) Management
- Design, deploy, and maintain SAN infrastructure to meet performance, availability, and storage requirements.
- Configure and manage storage arrays, SAN switches, and storage protocols including:
- iSCSI
- Fibre Channel
- Implement and support storage technologies including replication, snapshots, and tiered storage.
- Monitor SAN performance and troubleshoot storage-related incidents to ensure reliability and data availability.
Microsoft Azure Cloud Services
- Configure, maintain, and optimise Microsoft Azure cloud environments.
- Deploy and manage Azure services including:
- Azure Virtual Machines
- Azure Blob Storage
- Azure Virtual Networks
- Azure Active Directory / Microsoft Entra ID
- Implement cloud security controls, compliance measures, and best practices.
- Design and support disaster recovery and backup solutions using:
- Azure Site Recovery
- Azure Backup
Automation & Infrastructure as Code
- Develop automation scripts to improve operational efficiency and reduce manual processes.
- Use scripting technologies including:
- PowerShell
- Python
- Bash
- Support Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices using tools such as:
- Terraform
- Ansible
- PowerShell DSC
Collaboration & Technical Leadership
- Work closely with network engineers, security specialists, and application teams to deliver resilient infrastructure solutions.
- Provide technical guidance and knowledge sharing to junior team members.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the support and infrastructure teams.
Required Skills & Experience
- Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline preferred.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in server infrastructure, storage engineering, and cloud support roles.
- Strong experience supporting:
- Windows Server environments
- Linux operating systems
- Enterprise server infrastructure
- Virtualisation platforms
- Proven experience with SAN technologies, including:
- Storage arrays
- SAN switches
- iSCSI
- Fibre Channel
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure cloud services, including:
- Azure Virtual Machines
- Azure Storage
- Azure Networking
- Azure Active Directory / Entra ID
- Experience with automation and scripting using PowerShell, Python, or Bash.
- Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or Ansible.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and customer-facing abilities.
