About the Role
We are seeking an Accounting Technician to join our team and support the existing Payroll & Accounts Manager, providing additional capacity to the day-to-day finance function as our Construction and Agricultural business continues to grow.
The successful candidate will have strong practical accounts experience, excellent attention to detail and the ability to work independently in a busy environment.
Previous experience and knowledge of UK bookkeeping practices would be highly advantageous, although this is not an essential requirement. Familiarity with HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) requirements would also be beneficial.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide support with payroll administration.
- Process supplier invoices and purchase orders.
- Prepare supplier and subcontractor payments for processing.
- Complete day-to-day Xero inputting.
- Carry out regular bank reconciliations.
- Assist with RCT administration and submissions.
- Support VAT reconciliations and related administration.
- Reconcile supplier statements.
- Track and reconcile incoming payments.
- Respond to supplier and accounts-related queries.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records.
- Provide general accounts administration and support.
- Assist the Payroll & Accounts Manager with day-to-day finance activities.
- Assist with other accounting and administrative duties as required.
Essential Requirements
- Accounting Technician, IPASS or similar qualification would be an advantage.
- Strong practical accounts and/or payroll experience will also be considered.
- Minimum of 2 years' relevant experience, ideally within an Irish accountancy practice or similar environment.
- Experience using accounting software such as Xero, Sage, QuickBooks or similar.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
- Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Well organised, dependable and able to manage competing priorities effectively.
- Comfortable managing a high volume of transactions.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Previous experience within the construction, agricultural contracting or similar industry would be beneficial.
- Ability to manage competing assignments and meet statutory deadlines.
- Full driving licence and own transport essential.

The successful candidate will be practical, organised and detail-focused, with a hands-on approach to accounts and payroll administration.
You should be comfortable working independently while also working closely with an established finance team. The role would suit someone who is reliable, takes pride in their work and is confident managing their own workload in a busy environment.
The position may particularly suit someone based locally in the Kilconly area or surrounding areas.

- €30,000–€35,000 per annum DOE

- Monday–Thursday: 9:00am–5:30pm (negotiable)
- Friday: 3:00pm finish (negotiable)
- 25 days annual leave plus public holidays
