Mullan design and manufacture a wide range of bespoke and customised decorative lighting pieces for the retail, commercial and hospitality markets.
We are seeking an experienced individual to join our Powder Coating and Polishing team in a lighting manufacturing is responsible for preparing, coating, and finishing metal lighting components (e.g., housings, brackets, poles, fixtures) to high aesthetic and durability standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Surface preparation (cleaning, degreasing, sanding, masking)
- Operating powder coating and/or wet spray painting equipment
- Mixing paints and powders to specification
- Applying coatings evenly and to required thickness
- Operating curing ovens and monitoring temperatures
- Inspecting finished products for defects (runs, orange peel, uneven coating)
- Touch-ups and rework as required
- Maintaining spray booths and equipment
- Following health & safety procedures (PPE, ventilation, COSHH compliance)
- Supporting general production duties when required
Skills & Experience Required:
- Experience in powder coating or industrial spray painting
- Knowledge of metal finishing processes (aluminium, steel)
- Ability to read technical drawings or job specifications
- Understanding of thickness measurement (microns)
- Familiarity with curing cycles and oven settings
- Good attention to detail (important for visible lighting fixtures)
- Awareness of quality standards
- Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
Desirable (Lighting Manufacturing Specific)
- Experience finishing architectural or decorative lighting
- Knowledge of RAL colour matching
- Experience with small batch or bespoke production
- Understanding of corrosion resistance standards (e.g., outdoor lighting)
Salary will be depending on experience.
