About Us
Irish Pressings is a precision metal stamping, tooling, welded assembly, and machined components manufacturer supplying automotive, yellow goods, and industrial OEM customers. We are expanding our toolroom and machining operation and are looking for a reliable, detail-focused operator to join the team.
The Role
Reporting to the Toolroom Manager, you will operate surface grinding and sawing equipment to produce accurate components and tooling stock to drawing and specification. You will work to fine tolerances in a busy, quality-driven environment where consistency and attention to detail matter.
Key Responsibilities
· Operate surface grinding machines to achieve specified dimensions, flatness, and surface finish
· Operate bandsaws and cut-off saws to size raw material and tool steel stock
· Read and interpret engineering drawings, tolerances, and cutting lists
· Select appropriate grinding wheels, blades, coolants, and feeds/speeds for the material
· Measure and inspect work using micrometers, verniers, height gauges, and comparators
· Maintain clean, safe, and well-organised work areas in line with 5S and health & safety standards
· Carry out routine machine checks, wheel dressing, and basic preventative maintenance
· Record production and quality data as required
What We're Looking For
· Experience operating surface grinders and/or industrial saws in a precision engineering, toolroom, or machining setting
· Ability to read and work from engineering drawings
· Confident use of measuring and inspection equipment
· Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to work
· Awareness of workshop health and safety practices
· Reliable, punctual, and a good team worker
Desirable
· Time-served or formal engineering/toolmaking qualification
· Experience grinding hardened tool steels
· Familiarity with working to automotive or ISO quality standards
