An Cosán is currently seeking an enthusiastic Early Years Educator for our Whitehall Early Years Service. This role plays a critical part in the provision of high-quality early childhood care and education. Job Title: Early Years Educator
Part-Time Hours: 8.00am – 4.00pm, Monday to Friday, Term-Time Only (typically 39 weeks per year)
Pay: €15.40 per hour
Reports to: Early Years Manager
Contract: Permanent Probation: 6 months
Location: Swords Road, Whitehall, D9, D09 CK72
Qualification: QQI Level 5 in Childhood Education and Care or equivalent.
An Cosán An Cosán (Irish for “The Path”) is Ireland’s largest community education organisation. Its mission is to promote social equality and end poverty through community-based adult education, early years supports, wraparound counselling services, and social enterprise development. The Early Years Department operates seven services across Dublin City—three in Cabra, three in Tallaght, and one in Whitehall. An Cosán follows the HighScope Approach, an evidence-based curriculum proven to deliver improved outcomes for children and provides training to all educators in its implementation.
Primary Responsibility: To implement An Cosán’s Early Years Education and Care curriculum in line with organisational policies and procedures, under the supervision of the Early Years Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement the HighScope curriculum . Adhere to all An Cosán Early Years Education and Care policies and relevant HSE Preschool Regulations.
- Liaise with parents, individually and in groups, regarding their child’s development.
- Act as Key Worker for designated children in line with An Cosán procedures.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in both paper and digital formats.
- Take personal responsibility for Health and Safety compliance, including food safety, fire safety, and insurance requirements.
- Ensure full compliance with Child Protection policies, in line with Children First: National Guidance for the Protection and Welfare of Children.
- Use materials efficiently to minimise waste and costs.
- Report any non-compliance relating to quality of care, safety, child protection, or finances to the Manager.
- Undertake other duties relevant to the role as requested by the Early Years Education Manager.

Essential :
- QQI Level 5 in Childhood Education and Care or equivalent.
- Knowledge of implementing a play-based, child-centred curriculum.
- Familiarity with early years policies and procedures.
Desirable:
- Knowledge or qualification in HighScope.
