Company Information and Introduction:
Beattys of Loughrea is a well-established, long-standing retailer serving customers across Galway & Ireland, with a reputation built on quality products and strong customer service. As the business continues to grow, our retail overflow stock is managed through a dedicated warehouse facility — and we're looking for a hands-on Warehouse Team Lead to help keep it running like clockwork.
The Warehouse Team Lead is responsible for the day-to-day running of the warehouse facility that holds retail store overflow stock. This person leads a small team, balances hands-on work with delegation, and works closely with the Inventory and Store Managers to keep stock moving smoothly and safely between warehouse and store.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
Team & Task Management
Organise and delegate daily tasks across the warehouse team (deliveries, put-away, replenishment, cycle counts)
Prioritise competing jobs on the fly as deliveries, urgent replenishment requests, or issues come in
Roll up sleeves and work alongside the team when needed — not purely supervisory
Provide day-to-day direction, coaching, and performance feedback to warehouse staff
Deliveries & Stock Handling
Oversee checking off incoming deliveries against purchase orders/delivery notes
Manage unloading of deliveries safely and efficiently
Ensure accurate put-away and storage of stock in the correct warehouse locations
Warehouse Organisation
Maintain a well-organised, clean, and logically laid-out warehouse
Implement and maintain a clear storage/location system so stock is easy to find and count
Continuously look for ways to improve layout, flow, and efficiency
Replenishment
Stock Accuracy
Run regular cycle counts to keep inventory records accurate
Investigate and resolve stock discrepancies
Work with the Inventory Manager to keep system records aligned with physical stock
Health & Safety
Ensure the warehouse consistently meets health & safety standards
Carry out or oversee safety checks (racking, equipment, fire exits, manual handling practices)
Address unsafe practices or conditions immediately
Keep required H&S documentation/checks up to date
Cross-Team Collaboration
Work closely with the Inventory Manager and Store Manager to keep the whole operation streamlined
Flag stock, space, or resourcing issues before they become problems
Represent the warehouse function in wider operational conversations
Key Skills and Competencies:
Essential
Previous experience working in a warehousing environment.
Proven leadership or supervisory experience, ideally in a warehouse, stockroom, or logistics setting
Strong people management skills — able to delegate, motivate, and hold team members accountable
Excellent communication skills, both with team members and management
Comfortable with physical, hands-on work (lifting, manual handling, being on your feet for extended periods)
Good working knowledge of health & safety practices in a warehouse/stockroom environment
Flexible and reliable, with the ability to prioritise and adapt to a changing workload
Full clean driving licence
Desirable
Experience using a stock control or warehouse management system (WMS)
Experience with cycle counting or stocktaking processes
Manual handling / forklift or pallet truck certification (or willingness to be trained)
