What’s the Role?
As Customs Operations & Compliance Lead, you will support the Customs & Compliance Manager across all aspects of customs operations, compliance governance, customer onboarding and team development. You’ll act as a key point of contact for both internal teams and external clients, helping to ensure that our customs processes are efficient, compliant, and customer focused.
This is a hands-on role that blends operational customs work with compliance oversight, stakeholder management and continuous improvement, perfect for someone who wants to grow into a senior customs leadership position. Beyond the day- to- day operational and compliance responsibilities, this role carries a commercial dimension. BBL Groupe is growing- and we are looking for people who want to grow with us. What Will My Day-to-Day Look Like?
- Supporting customs compliance activities across Ireland and UK operations
- Assisting with the preparation, review and submission of customs declarations
- Liaising with customers, carriers and customs authorities on documentation and requirements
- Acting as an escalation point for customs operational and compliance queries
- Supporting AEO compliance, internal SOPs and governance controls
- Monitoring EU and UK customs regulation changes and communicating impacts to clients and internal teams
- Supporting customer onboarding and implementation of customs solutions
- Assisting with internal audits and Revenue/HMRC customs-related queries
- Contributing to KPI reporting, billing reconciliation and performance monitoring
- Supporting team training, knowledge sharing and staff development initiatives
- Participating in projects linked to customs growth, automation and process improvement
- Developing commercially as well as operationally - building client relationships, shaping solutions, and contributing to the growth of the department
What Experience Do I Need?
We’re looking for a customs professional who is ready to step up and take ownership.
The ideal candidate will bring:
- Minimum 2–3 years’ experience in a customs or freight forwarding environment
- A strong working knowledge of EU and/or UK customs procedures and cross-border trade
- Experience supporting customers in a customs operation’s context
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced operational environment
- Experience with Irish and/or UK customs systems is a distinct advantage
- Team leadership or supervisory experience is beneficial but not essential
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is an advantage
- An interest in AI, automation and customs technology solutions would be a great asset
