Mechanical Engineer
Location: Coolrain Sawmills, Coolrain, Co. Laois.

Due to continued growth, we are seeking an ambitious and motivated Mechanical Engineer to join our engineering team. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment where you'll contribute to improving plant performance, leading engineering projects and supporting the ongoing development of our production facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the day-to-day operation and performance of production machinery and manufacturing equipment
- Design, develop and implement mechanical improvements to increase plant efficiency and reliability
- Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives across the production facility
- Assist with the planning, specification and installation of new machinery and equipment
- Manage engineering projects from concept through to commissioning
- Analyse equipment performance and identify opportunities to reduce downtime and maintenance costs
- Work alongside maintenance personnel to resolve recurring mechanical issues
- Prepare technical drawings, equipment specifications and engineering documentation where required
- Ensure all engineering activities comply with Health & Safety legislation, environmental standards and company policies
- Liaise with equipment suppliers, contractors and service providers
- Support preventative maintenance planning and reliability improvement programmes
- Assist with budgeting and capital investment projects
About You
We're looking for someone who is enthusiastic, technically strong and enjoys solving engineering challenges in a manufacturing environment.
Essential
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline
- Experience within a manufacturing, industrial or processing environment
- Good understanding of mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics and rotating equipment
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Experience managing engineering projects or equipment upgrades
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across departments
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
