Hassetts Bakers & Confectioners Ltd is a rapidly growing semi-industrial bakery specialising in the production of premium pastries, desserts, biscuits, and crackers for major retailers. We combine artisanal craftsmanship with industrial-scale production to deliver innovative, high-quality products with consistency and efficiency.
We are seeking an experienced and creative Pastry Chef to join our team and play a key role in New Product Development (NPD) and industrial scaling. This position is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of artisan baking and production efficiency and is passionate about transforming innovative concepts into commercially successful products.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop new pastry and dessert concepts in line with customer requirements and market trends.
- Lead and support NPD projects from concept development through to full-scale production.
- Collaborate with production teams to scale recipes efficiently while maintaining product quality and consistency.
- Work closely with sales and business development teams to ensure products meet customer and commercial requirements.
- Adapt recipes for large-scale manufacturing, considering consistency, cost-effectiveness, shelf-life, and operational efficiency.
- Monitor market trends and consumer insights to identify opportunities for innovation.
- Conduct product trials, testing, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with food safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
- Carry out any other duties and responsibilities reasonably assigned by management.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Pastry Chef within a bakery, production, or food manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated experience in product development and recipe scaling.
- Strong understanding of industrial or semi-industrial food production processes.
- Ability to work collaboratively across departments, including production, sales, and management.
- Knowledge of ingredient functionality, shelf-life considerations, and cost control.
- Creative approach with strong commercial awareness.
- Excellent organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
