The Visitor Services Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and enhancing the overall experience for visitors. This role involves planning, operational management, team leadership, and having a deep commitment to delivering exceptional service, ensuring both staff and visitors feel valued, welcome, and engaged.
Key Responsibilities:
Customer Experience, Reception & Reservations (Core Focus)
- Deliver a consistently high-quality and welcoming experience for all visitors
- Manage and respond to visitor enquiries, bookings, and reservations via phone, email, and in person
- Support the smooth running of reception and admissions areas, working closely with other supervisors and team members
- Assist in managing visitor flow and ensuring efficient service delivery at peak times
- Support ticket sales, upselling, and handling of group bookings
- Resolve visitor queries and issues professionally and efficiently
Visitor Experience & Operations
- Lead by example in welcoming visitors and delivering tours where required
- Plan and support events, workshops, and group visits
- Coordinate daily operations, including rostering and task allocation
- Conduct team briefings and shift handovers
- Troubleshoot operational and system issues
- Ensure compliance with SOPs, cash handling, and security procedures
- Manage stock ordering, stock counts, and merchandising
- Ensure all opening/closing procedures are followed
Drive Sales & Revenue
- Promote and champion all services, experiences, and offerings to maximise revenue
- Use strong product knowledge to confidently upsell and cross-sell to visitors
- Support ticket sales, group bookings, and retail opportunities
- Contribute to achieving site sales targets and enhancing the overall visitor experience
Café Operations
- Prepare and serve hot/cold beverages and light meals as required
- Support the team in delivering excellent café service during busy periods
- Ensure cleanliness, food safety, and hygiene standards are consistently maintained
- Assist with stock control and end-of-day cash handling
Leadership & Operations
- Support the General Manager in the day-to-day operations of the full site.
- Ensure all standard operating procedures are followed in detail and to high standards.
- Manage, motivate and develop the site team.
- Consistently deliver excellent customer service.
- Must balance management skills, operational expertise, and a customer-focused approach to create a positive experience for visitors and staff.
Key Holding Responsibilities
- Open and/or close the centre in line with procedure
- Ensure the premises are secure at all times
- Follow all cash handling and security procedures
- Act responsibly when on duty as a key holder
Retail & Admissions Support
- Assist with retail operations including customer service, till use, and merchandising
- Oversee admissions processes including ticketing, payments, and daily cash-up procedures
Tours, Events & Visitor Engagement
- Support or deliver guided tours and interactive visitor experiences
- Assist in the planning and delivery of events, group visits, and programming
- Ensure all visitors receive engaging, informative, and enjoyable experiences
Site Presentation & Standards
- Ensure the site is well-presented, safe, and welcoming at all times
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness across all areas including visitor and staff facilities
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety legislation, policies, and procedures
What You’ll Need:
- Customer / Reservations experience
- Leaving Certificate (or equivalent)
- Full driving licence
- A passion for delivering results in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Flexibility to work varied shifts, including regular weekends
- Previous supervisory experience is an advantage—but a great attitude and willingness to learn are just as important

Working Week
Your working hours will vary from time to time, with minimum shift lengths of 5 hours. This will depend on variations in demand, the tourist season and expansion of opening hours seasonally, programming, workshops and events.
